Currently, neither of these standards can be met with respect to Press TV,
but if further sanctions are imposed on Iran in the coming months, a case
may be able to be made on the second criterion.!
and
"In the immediate term, HMG plans to lobby the French government to
approach Eutelsat and press it to drop IRIB broadcasts from the Hotbird
satellite. The IRIB broadcasts several channels from the satellite, both
domestically (even most terrestrial TV channels in Iran are dependent on a
satellite and repeaters) and internationally, so it is an important source
of income for Eutelsat.
While it would be unlikely for the company to agree to drop the IRIB
broadcasts spontaneously, Turner believes it would be susceptible to an
approach by the French government because of the cover it would gain from
complying with an official government request. HMG would appreciate USG
engagement with the government of France on this issue."
IRAN/ARMENIA 1377 A jammer-like noise heard on 1377 kHz during November
in the late afternoon and early evening period appears to have been
originating from a faulty transmitter at Gavar in Armenia, used for relays
of Voice of Russia and TWR.
(items on p.20, 32, 34, by Rumen Pankov-BUL and Tony Rodgers-UK,
on BrDXC-UK Communication magazine Dec 2010)
JAMMING - Today, Monday the 8th of Novembre a very "old fashioned"
radiosignal is audible on 1377 kHz. A wobbel jammer station is causing a
lot of QRM for France Info from Lille. Is there anyone who knows which
country is started this - radiowar -? The signal is coming from the southwest,
here in the northern part of Holland. Is the jammer for, or coming
from Iran location IRIB?
(W. Prins, Haren-HOL, BeNeLuxDXC Dec bulletin Nov 8)
Comment - Re jammer like noise on 1377 kHz.
Still a PUZZLE after 4 weeks happening.
-- Others say this a Gavar Armenia mediumwave transmitter fault.
But oscillating signal failed on Dec 3rd to 6th.
-- My comment, that's supposedly real jamming by Iranian Govt Authority
against CHRISTIAN program broadcast of TWR EUROPE
from Vienna, Austria. (wb)
According to their TWR B-10 winter schedule rent Armenian MW powerhouse
Gavar mediumwave on 1377 kHz between 1800 and 2107 UT, in Arabic, Persian,
Iraqi Arabic, Assyrian, Qashqai, and Uzbek language.
