places all over Europe, like Soldatensender Belgrade, in Sowjetunion,
Netherlands, Norway and Karelia Finland. Four towers at 121 m height. Was
screeend towards 16 and 121 degrees at Sundsvall-SWE and Pleven-BUL.

Replaced on Oct 16, 1967 to new Weiskirchen site. Maximal 950 kW ERP,
screened towards Sundsvall-SWE and Sofia-BUL at

To cover Northern Hesse due to the screening towards Sweden, Hessischer
Rundfunk erected a smaller relay station at Hoher Meissner (Hausen
Lichtenau) on June 1, 1952. Started with 20 kW, was increased later to 100
and then maximal 250 kW of power during cold war time. Two towers of 110
and 160 m height. Signals were also screened at 17 and 127 degrs.
This caused a heavy buzz on daytime, because exact sychronization between
the two MW locations was not very sufficient these days in 1952, 1953 ...
The station was also well heard up to 300 kilometers into communist GDR
(Soviet Occupied Zone of Germany) area.

594 About close down of HR Frankfurt 594 kHz MW:
In the early 70s the only one station of Hessischer Rundfunk heard here
was on 593 kHz at night time only. I received a QSL card despite of the
warning of secret communist services which opened all letters sent to the
West Germany. I sent my reception report in envelope with sign:
Hessischer Rundfunk, ... , Frankfurt a.M., DDR
and I received the QSL ! By similar way I had already QSLs from
Bayerischer Rundfunk Munich, Sender Freies Berlin etc.

Freud und Leid ... MW HR 594 kHz - der Stecker ist gezogen.
Aus England, gehoert heute morgen: VOCM St. John's 590 kHz was much more
clear of QRM.
