January 2010. The Expo bannered un<strong>de</strong>r Broadcast Engineering Society<br />

(India), this t<strong>im</strong>e carries the theme of 'Broadcasters & New Media<br />

Technologies' and will focus on the expanding opportunities in the<br />

following domain. This 3 day exhibition being India's biggest Broadcasting<br />

Technology show will continue till 31st of this month.<br />

The exhibition was inaugurated by Ms. Ambika Soni, Minister of Information<br />

and Broadcasting India as a Chief Guest. Whereas other respected guests<br />

were B.S. Lalli, CEO Prasar Bharati, Uday Varma, Special Secretary (I&B).<br />

Director of Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), Mr. Sharad Sadhu<br />

<strong>de</strong>livered his lecture concentrating on different issues of broadcasting as<br />

the keynote speaker of the programme.<br />

In a quote, R.R. Prasad, Presi<strong>de</strong>nt BES said, "Digital is taking over from<br />

the conventional broadcasting operation. Analogue, Tape-based, Hardware<br />

dominated work flow is being replaced by digital, file-based & software<br />

dominated work flow."<br />

Whereas in her addression, Ms. Soni stated, "I am very glad to see the<br />

largest society of Broadcast Professionals i.e. BES is keeping with the<br />

opportunity to organize a conference cum exhibition at such grand scale so<br />

that the people mutually benefit. The competition is gradually increasing<br />

but at the same t<strong>im</strong>e ensuring healthy growth of technology eventually<br />

benefiting the consumers."<br />

She also mentioned about the challenges being faced by the Broadcasting<br />

industry in India. Phase III policy for FM, HITS, Community Radio and how<br />

the upcoming Commonwealth Games in India would change the Broadcasting<br />

scenario were among some topics she emphasized while her speech.<br />

BES is organizing this EXPO with a purpose of providing a perfect platform<br />

to all media professionals, <strong>de</strong>alers, manufacturers, suppliers,<br />

distributors and all the organizations related to this domain. This EXPO<br />

will inclu<strong>de</strong> display of technology and equipment related to broadcasting<br />

arena such as Production & Post Production, Satellite & Microwave,<br />

Mult<strong>im</strong>edia, Networking, Cable, Broadband, DTH, HDTV, IPTV, DRM, DRM+,<br />

Internet TV and Transmission etc.<br />

Total 78 exhibitors from India and abroad are participating in the event.<br />

Some major players from the long list inclu<strong>de</strong> SONY, Prasar Bharati, Pr<strong>im</strong>e<br />

Focus, Playbox Technology, Harris Broadcast, Qualcomm India, Schaf<br />

Broadcast, Sennheiser India, RSG Infotech Pvt. Ltd. WASP 3D and many<br />

others.<br />

Around 4000 Individuals and companies related TV and Radio industry from<br />

countries such as Canada, India, Australia, Austria, Finland, France,<br />

China, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, U.K, U.S.A, Norway, Netherlands and<br />

many more are expected to visit this EXPO.<br />

Halls no. 8 & 9 of Pragati Maidan are holding the arrangements of this<br />

exhibition and several lectures, seminars and conferences will be<br />

conducted during the span of following three days.<br />
