Homage to John Bryant.<br />

JOHN H. BRYANT<br />

The worldwi<strong>de</strong> DX fraternity was very shocked to learn of John's unt<strong>im</strong>ely<br />

<strong>de</strong>ath on 9 February. Emeritus Professor John H. Bryant served as a Senior<br />

Fulbright Research Fellow in Japan in the mid-1970s and was an<br />

internationally recognised authority on East Asian Architecture. John's<br />

contributions to the profession of architecture were recognized when he<br />

was elevated to the status of Fellow of the American Institute of<br />

Architects in May 1997.<br />

Following his retirement in 2000, John built a retirement retreat in the<br />

San Juan Islands on the US West Coast, from where he was able to indulge<br />

his interest in broadcast and tropical band DX from Asia. He un<strong>de</strong>rtook<br />
