CZECH REPUBLIC Radio Prague is leaving short waves on January 31, 2011.<br />

The rumour was now confirmed by Mr. Krupicka, the Chief of the station.<br />

The Litomysl SW TX site will be closed.<br />

Radio Prague ends SW bcasting 31 Jan 2011.<br />

Radio Prague has confirmed it will end shortwave broadcasts at the end of<br />

January according to this announcement on its Facebook page about 1810 UT<br />

today:<br />

"Radio Prague will be terminating shortwave broadcasting as of January 31,<br />

2011. The station's financing for next year has been drastically reduced<br />

by the Foreign Ministry in line with government austerity measures a<strong>im</strong>ed<br />

at cutting the state <strong>de</strong>ficit. The <strong>de</strong>tails of the budget are still being<br />

discussed. At present, broadcasting will continue in all six languages via<br />

the internet, satellite and partner stations."<br />

Radio Slovakia, Radio Prague and Radio Swe<strong>de</strong>n I predict will go the way of<br />

Swiss Info. I think that in 2 maybe 3 years they will be gone. Swiss Info<br />

is on the verge of being gone for good. We have see this happen before.<br />

Geopolitically things have changed since 1989. People back then that ma<strong>de</strong><br />

predictions this would happen I remember were laugh at, but it seem they<br />

are getting the last laugh now.<br />

From Febr 1st, only via livestream / and recor<strong>de</strong>d on internet files<br />

download. Same <strong>de</strong>cline {to sud<strong>de</strong>n <strong>de</strong>ad} like RCI German, RFI German, Swiss<br />

Radio International, Radio Swe<strong>de</strong>n, and soon DWL Bonn, latter from 2012<br />

year when only Sines, Kigali and Trincomalee may used by DWL then.<br />
