Merchant marine Larry Fields is visiting Palau and tried to find T8WH. The
locals had never heard of it, and he did not find it, despite driving
toward where it was supposed to be, racking up $75 in taxi fare. Google
Earth mapping researched by Wolfgang Bueschel shows it on the opposite
side of the island from Koror, and Kai Ludwig suggests the antennas may be
obscured by trees until you are right upon them. Larry is still on the
island for another week and is going to try again.
Hello Glenn, I had a meeting with a local Ham George T88GN and as I was
leaving I met another person who told me the station is here but in a
different location from where we went. I think my driver didn't know much
and kept asking the wrong people.
Palau island update ... Hello again, ran into a local ham here named is
George, T88GN and we spent about 20 minutes talking about ham licensing
here. I have plans to obtain one for future, but in the meantime, I ran
into a friend of his who told me that the Palau site is still in use and
he knew some people who worked there. My plan is to see it still before I
leave for our next Port of Guam, so will see what happens there. Will post
it in my Bloggers site and also my other site
I have been listening to old SDR-files. One of them is 1395 kHz on Nov 19,
A clear id in English can be heard: "This is the Far East
Broadcasting Company, Philippines." However, no call or location. WRTH,
MW-list or the febc.ph-website don't know such station. Any idea? DZVT is
Previously single MW antenna mast located at
point.
Now at present Alan's Asiawaves show 1458 kHz 10 kW only. Asiawaves
mentioned 15 21 18 N 119 57 24 E
but acc to Uwe Volk, who visited the FEBC Iba TX site in December 2007:
"... From the beach side you see a fifth antenna tower, which is a FM
repeater of Radio Veritas. No wonder that the local people indentify the
four SW masts behind the FM aerial also as Radio Veritas, no wonder at all
Iba transmitter site consists of two SW and one MW transmitter:
1x Continental 100 kW SW tx (ca. 1980),
1x Harris[rather General Electric brand label visible] 50 kW SW tx (ca.
1945!) and another 5 kW MW tx transfered from Saipan. There was a
highpower MW tx several years ago in use, however FEBC decided that it was
