I guess the 21 SW curtain masts at Quivican are looking like really China
mainland type fashion, at least 8 to 9 years now. So the Quivican site and
masts will now well finnished and fully equipped with 5 new tx units and
curtain antenna sets.
Three fully equipped SW tx sites in action is more than enough for such a
small country like Cuba...

I have twice visited the site, once when I was commissioning the IBB
antenna at Cape Greco, and once when I was making measurements of the
coupling between the Ladies Mile antennas for filter design. I took a
number of pictures of the MF antenna because, as far as I am aware, it is
the highest power slant wire fed MF antenna in operation anywhere, and one
of the few DA's with slant wire feed (although, as noted from VT, the
second element is a grounded parasitic). I was told that the masts are
from a no longer used curtain array, so it wasn't originally designed as
an MF antenna, but modified for that purpose. The feed arrangement is very
elegant, using a group of roughly // wires for minimization of surface
voltage gradient.

Vernacular, choirs, sermon at 1815 UT, at 1834 UT playing the X-mas song
"Noel" in En. So their Orthodox church is celebrating on 7 January as in
Russia, Serbia, Macedonia and two sinods in Greece. In Bulgaria, Romania,
West Ukraine and one synod in Greece the X-mas is on Dec 25th.

Welcome to the January 2010 edition of "Signals Unlimited". Fortunately,
it's the time of the year that I can take a break from lessons, lecturing
and marking and focus on writing a column for "The Messenger". I hope that
everyone had a good Christmas and a Happy New Year.
During my summer (still 7 months away!) break, I'll be continuing my world
travels with a trip out to Ethiopia and this marks my first excursion to
Africa.
