Belarus Radio Minsk of nominal fundamental 7360 kHz produces TWO BAD
SPURIOUS SIGNALS at 112 kHz away each, symmetrical on both sides in
7463 to 7482 ... and 7245 to 7251 kHz, with peak signals on 7248 and
7472! kHz.
(wb, wwdxc BC-DX TopNews Nov 19)
[...] But what I found was a rather bad, FMing spur on about 7420, and
more spikes from the same modulation around 7470 kHz . Which modulation?
The one from the 7360 / 7390 Minsk twins. {is 7360 fundamental one, wb.}
The 15 x 5 kW ex-jamming transmitter block on 7360 kHz has also developed
a slight distortion, whether or not it may be related to the spurs. 7390,
operated with an old transmitter that was already shut down for a decade
or so, is cleaner but has a bit less upper mids and somewhat lower
modulation. Both outlets show their own sort of a mild hum, reminiscent to
grandmas radio, in particular 7390 kHz where the hum has a pronounced
100 Hz component.
Wow, this is truly old-school steam radio, especially since no obvious
dynamics compression is in use, unlike the co-sited 250 kW transmitter
that is off at this time of the day. One does not find such uncompressed,
soft modulation too often these days.
