Hello all,
Here's a collection of all notes I have gathered over the past few years
concerning the VOA txer at Erching. It would be interesting to have the
final story after the last transmission period. The costs of operating
this monster and its twins in Poro and Naha must have been astronomical.
The Poro unit (and also Bangkok 1575 kHz) was replaced by a modern Harris
DX-1000 in 1996, after 43 years of operation.

173 kHz RIAS via Muenchen-Erching (VOA). In use at selected times from 25
January 1954 to 31 January 1964 on 173 kHz. VOA also off from 1 Feb 1964.
209-207 kHz
The [former movable 14 truck WWII Reichspost tx] Martha transmitter at
Mainflingen near Frankfurt/Main was used on this frequency from 23
November 1978 using 20 kW.
The VOA transmitter at Munich Erching became available on 1 March 1979.
Started operations on 209 kHz using 500 kW on 4 July 1979. On 1 February
1988 the frequency was changed to 207 kHz.
[Regensburg Deggendorf - Aholming: Two 250 kW transmitters (Telefunken
S4008) started operations using 500 / 250 kW on 1 February 1989. The
antenna system has two 265m masts at a mutual distance of 483m. The power
is fed at 203m height. Days only one mast is used to provide a
nondirectional pattern. G.C: 12E56/48N43.
VOA LW Erching 173 kHz. - Resumed in August 1969.
Ab August 1969 wieder mit VoA Russisch in Test-Betrieb. Danach ab 3.9.1969
wieder regulaer, 1600-2000 En, 2000-2200 Russisch, [comment: fuer
Besatzungsarmee in DDR und CSSR bestimmt, wb]
Schlossgut Erching 173 kHz 1734 m, errichtet 1952-1953, lief von [Sept?]
1953 bis 1 Feb 1964.
