17620 Radio AMRS from Moosbrunn Austria, 1600-1630 UT.
Very strong here as well throughout. Hum got worse around 1620 UT. Could
hear the Vienna end of their QSOs at 1620 UT on 14210 kHz.
So how exactly do we QSL the broadcast part of this?
(Jerry Berg-MA-USA, DXplorer Nov 7)
Also very strong here (hum on transmitter) at 1600 UT sign with German
programming (a single En ID at the beginning). CW ID's every five minutes
or so.
(Mick Delmage-AB-CAN, DXplorer Nov 7)
Robert OE4RGC, President of AMRS, just confirmed that all incoming
reception reports for the broadcast will be QSLed by their special card.
Please include return postage (2 USD or 1 IRC).
BAHAMAS I'm sending you this letter and some photos of the Bahamas
(Lev Lytovchenko-CAN, wwdxc BC-DX TopNews Nov 1)
While visiting Nassau (New Providence Island in the Bahamas), I used the
opportunity to take some photos of the TX sites of two AM Stations: 1540
kHz (ZNS-1) and 1240 kHz (ZNS-2). The latter one appeared to be a former
AM station. I was told that it hasn't worked for about a year and there is
now a plan to use the tower for FM transmission. So far the tower is used
for TV only. (See the TV antennas on top of it in pic. 1). Regarding the
station ZNS-1 (1540 kHz) it was much more interesting.
It was there I met a radio engineer and he told me what had happened about
two months ago (Aug 2010) on their antenna field. One night all the ground
copper wires (hundreds of pieces of about 50m long each) were stolen by
some guys.
For the thieves it was quite convenient to do their job throughout the
night because the transmission building is located about 150m from the
antenna field, which looks like a deserted rural area. Then the copper
wires were probably sold as scrap metal.
There are two antenna towers: in the pics. 2,3,4,5 on the right one was
