judgement and of their consummation, till the judgement that
is for ever and ever is consummated. 13. In those daj-s they
shall be led ofE to the abyss of fire : (and) to the torment and
the prison in which they shall be confined for ever. 14. And
whosoever shall be condemned and destroyed will from thence-
forth be bound together with them to the end of all genera-
tions. 15. And destroy all the spirits of the reprobate and the
children of the Watchers, because they have wronged mankind.
16. Destroy all wrong from the face of the earth and let every
evil work come to an end : and let the plant of righteousness
and truth appear : ""and it shall prove a blessing : the works of
righteousness and truth"' shall be planted in truth and joy for
evermore.
17. And then shall all the righteous escape,
And shall live till they beget thousands of children,
And all the days of their youth and their old age shall they

tions (E). Ge 'the generation', G'
' their generation '. 15. The vs riter
is still describing the duties of Gabiiel,
i. e. the destruction of the giants and
the imprisonment of the fallen AValohers,
as we see from lO'i '". This verse is
therefore out of place. Possibly it
belongs after W. Thus IQi"' refers
to Uriel, lO*"* to Raphael, 10«. i». " to
Gabriel, and W^-^' to Michael. And 1°

. c. Israel, Israel springs from
a seed that ' is sown ' by God, 62'
hence it is established as ' a plant of
the seed for ever ', 84*, is called ' the
plant of uprightness', 9Z'', 'the plant
of righteousness ', 93^, ' the eternal
plant of righteousness', 93'", and finally
' the plant of righteous judgement ', 93''.
Kighteousness and truth. After
these words G^ omits through hmt. Kal
earcu (vkoyia' Ta ipya ttjs iiKaioavvrjs
feat T^s d\r]9das, which are preserved
by E. 17. The writer has here
gone over wholly to a description of
the Messianic times. The picture is
a very sensuous one. Their old age
cf. 25'.^ (note). Here G^E have to
aap^ara airSiv = [inflStJ' in which the
word is wrongly vocal'zed for |inn3'{J'
= Tu -yripas auTSf. The error could
also be explained in Hebrew. See

18, 19. The future is depicted after
