fire in <strong>the</strong> west to be Gehenna. He<br />

says <strong>the</strong> sun receives its fire from it,<br />

and he quotes Baba Eathra 84°. But<br />

this is quite wrong. Gehenna is not<br />

in <strong>the</strong> west in Enoch, and <strong>the</strong> passage<br />

in <strong>the</strong> Talmud merely says that <strong>the</strong> sun<br />

is red in <strong>the</strong> evening because it passes<br />

<strong>the</strong> gate <strong>of</strong> Gehenna, just as it is red<br />

in <strong>the</strong> morning because it passes <strong>the</strong><br />

roses <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Garden <strong>of</strong> Eden. Receives<br />
