ABSTRACT
Gynecologist and obstetrician is often faced to emergency, with two people’s
life at risk.
It is essential that clinician have the knowledge and skills to achieve a rapid and an
effective response, especially in the context of a national commitment to reduce
maternal mortality.
In this context, developing a practical guide for gynecological and obstetrical
emergencies could be an essential tool for young practitioners in obstetrics and
gynecology.
This work aims to highlight the main real emergency, in a synthetic and didactic
way.
Split into two main parts, the book tackles twenty six clinical situations:
- Firstly, the gynecological emergencies describing the steps to take before the
ectopic pregnancy, hyperstimulation syndrome, emergency contraception, etc
- Secondly, .. the obstetric emergencies such as the premature labor, acute fetal
distress, uterine rupture, eclampsia, etc,;
For each condition, and when it was possible , we develop a similar chapter
structure. The various emergency situations and appropriate conduct are clearly
exposed
many efforts were made to provide consistent information with current
medical knowledge, based on research in the database PubMed, the Cochrane
Database, in Encyclopedia of medical and surgical gynecology Obstetrics taking into
account the recommendations issued by WHO and the French and American learned
societies
