Prior to tak<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> degree, exam<strong>in</strong>ati<strong>on</strong> students must document <strong>the</strong>ir completi<strong>on</strong> of required periods of practical<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g (three parts):<br />

<strong>on</strong> pass<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> first part of <strong>the</strong> degree exam<strong>in</strong>ati<strong>on</strong> <strong>in</strong> veter<strong>in</strong>ary medic<strong>in</strong>e (see (c) above):<br />

six weeks <strong>in</strong> a veter<strong>in</strong>ary practice or an animal cl<strong>in</strong>ic;<br />

<strong>on</strong> pass<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> sec<strong>on</strong>d part of <strong>the</strong> degree exam<strong>in</strong>ati<strong>on</strong> <strong>in</strong> veter<strong>in</strong>ary medic<strong>in</strong>e (see (d) above):<br />

six weeks <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> animal and meat <strong>in</strong>specti<strong>on</strong> secti<strong>on</strong> of a State-recognised slaughterhouse or a meat <strong>in</strong>specti<strong>on</strong><br />

authority;<br />

a three-m<strong>on</strong>th period of practical tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> <strong>on</strong>e of <strong>the</strong> abovementi<strong>on</strong>ed areas or under <strong>the</strong> supervisi<strong>on</strong> of a<br />

veter<strong>in</strong>ary surge<strong>on</strong> at a university <strong>in</strong>stitute, a federal research <strong>in</strong>stituti<strong>on</strong>, a veter<strong>in</strong>ary c<strong>on</strong>trol <strong>in</strong>stituti<strong>on</strong>, a veter<strong>in</strong>ary<br />

adm<strong>in</strong>istrati<strong>on</strong> office, a public or State-promoted animal health service, an artificial <strong>in</strong>sem<strong>in</strong>ati<strong>on</strong> stati<strong>on</strong>, <strong>the</strong><br />

pharmaceutical <strong>in</strong>dustry (development, producti<strong>on</strong> and <strong>in</strong>specti<strong>on</strong> of animal foodstuffs), or <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> animal food<br />

<strong>in</strong>dustry (producti<strong>on</strong> and <strong>in</strong>specti<strong>on</strong> of mixed animal foods);<br />

<strong>the</strong> third part of <strong>the</strong> degree exam<strong>in</strong>ati<strong>on</strong> <strong>in</strong> veter<strong>in</strong>ary medic<strong>in</strong>e (Dritter Abschnitt der tierärztlichen Prüfung) covers <strong>the</strong><br />

follow<strong>in</strong>g subjects: special pathological anatomy and histology, <strong>in</strong>ternal medic<strong>in</strong>e, surgery, gynaecology, birth, andrology<br />

and domestic animal <strong>in</strong>sem<strong>in</strong>ati<strong>on</strong>, poultry diseases, food <strong>the</strong>ory and law, milk and milk hygiene law, meat animal and<br />

meat <strong>in</strong>specti<strong>on</strong>, meat and poultry-meat hygiene law, animal epidemic c<strong>on</strong>trol, animal protecti<strong>on</strong> and<br />

animal behaviour, forensic veter<strong>in</strong>ary medic<strong>in</strong>e and <strong>the</strong> veter<strong>in</strong>ary professi<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Certificates are issued <strong>on</strong> all parts of <strong>the</strong> degree exam<strong>in</strong>ati<strong>on</strong> and for <strong>the</strong> periods of practical tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g. The f<strong>in</strong>al certificate or<br />

certificate <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> degree exam<strong>in</strong>ati<strong>on</strong> <strong>in</strong> veter<strong>in</strong>ary medic<strong>in</strong>e c<strong>on</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>s <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>dividual grades received <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> exam<strong>in</strong>ati<strong>on</strong><br />

subjects of <strong>the</strong> third part of <strong>the</strong> degree exam<strong>in</strong>ati<strong>on</strong> as well as <strong>the</strong> overall grade, based also <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> grades received <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> first<br />

and sec<strong>on</strong>d parts of <strong>the</strong> degree exam<strong>in</strong>ati<strong>on</strong>.
