I.4.2. Internati<strong>on</strong>al credit transfer<br />

Students who have completed university studies outside Norway, bey<strong>on</strong>d what is required for matriculati<strong>on</strong> at a Norwegian<br />

<strong>in</strong>stititi<strong>on</strong> of higher educati<strong>on</strong>, may apply to have <strong>the</strong>se studies evaluated for possible<br />

credit with<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Norwegian degree system. Evaluati<strong>on</strong> normally takes several m<strong>on</strong>ths. All applicati<strong>on</strong>s for transfer of foreign<br />

credits are<br />

evaluated <strong>in</strong>dividually, and ma<strong>in</strong>ly <strong>in</strong> relati<strong>on</strong> to <strong>the</strong> corresp<strong>on</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g subjects <strong>in</strong> a Norwegian degree programme. Where no<br />

such corresp<strong>on</strong>dence can be found, <strong>the</strong> student may be given unspecified credits, which may count towards a degree. Students<br />

who want to c<strong>on</strong>t<strong>in</strong>ue <strong>the</strong>ir educati<strong>on</strong> should apply for credit transfer directly to <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>stituti<strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong>y wish to attend. O<strong>the</strong>rs<br />

should apply through <strong>the</strong> Nati<strong>on</strong>al Academic Informati<strong>on</strong> Centre (<strong>the</strong> Norwegian <str<strong>on</strong>g>NARIC</str<strong>on</strong>g>)
