In <strong>the</strong> Offertory we address to <strong>the</strong> Mo<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> God <strong>the</strong> words which<br />

<strong>the</strong> sorely tried prophet Jeremias speaks to <strong>the</strong> Lord in behalf <strong>of</strong> his<br />

ungrateful people. She stood beneath <strong>the</strong> cross <strong>of</strong> Jesus and looked into<br />

His glazing eyes. She heard Him pray: "Fa<strong>the</strong>r, forgive <strong>the</strong>m!" And she<br />

prayed with Him. She intercedes for us, for us who are <strong>the</strong> cause <strong>of</strong> those
