2.3.40 From the year 2010-11 onwards, funds for the purpose have been provided<br />

under plan scheme PM 6 ‘Assistance to NGOs. Hence, no outlay is provided for the Annual<br />

Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

2.3.41 Rabbies and Brucellosis are dreadful diseases of animal and human beings.<br />

The staff of department is at risk while handling the suspected cases of rabbies and the staff<br />

of the department has to go for prophylaxis treatment against this disease many times and<br />

some of them have lost their lives. It is proposed to undertake regular prophylaxis<br />

vaccination of all A.H.D. personnel. This will help the staff to work fearlessly and they can<br />

provide better services to the livestock of state. The Surveillance of diseases would be<br />

required to identify the diseased animals. The owners of animals will be advised to segregate<br />

positive reactor animals. This will help in checking the spread of disease.<br />

This scheme is being implemented through RKVY. Hence, no outlay is<br />

provided for the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

AH - 24 Renovation & Upgradation of Veterinary Institutions in the <strong>State</strong> (ACA<br />

2010-11 – Rs.20.00 Crore).<br />

2.3.42 The Department of Animal Husbandry is engaged in providing health care and<br />

breeding services to the indigenous and exotic animals being reared by the farmers of the<br />

<strong>State</strong>. The department is having a network of 782 Veterinary Hospitals and 1485 Veterinary<br />

Dispensaries in the <strong>State</strong>. Presently, the buildings of majority of these Institutions<br />

(Veterinary Dispensaries, Hospitals and Polyclinics) are in poor condition and their repair &<br />

renovation is required to extend better services to the farmers.<br />

2.3.43 An amount of Rs.20.00 crore would be required to repair/renovate/<br />

addition/alteration of buildings of veterinary institutions as per detail given below:-<br />
