11.6. 56 Underground water in Malwa belt contains excessive fluoride and is saline in<br />

nature. To ensure supply of safe drinking water for the residents of the villages, it is<br />

proposed to install reverse osmosis plants in the selected villages to supply at least 10 lpcd<br />

potable water for drinking and cooking purposes. Villagers will carry this quantity of potable<br />

water from the site of the plant by paying reasonable amount. Balance demand of water for<br />

other needs will continue to be supplied through piped water supply system already existing<br />

in the villages. An amount of Rs. 4.27 crore was released to district Muktsar in 2007-08 for<br />

installation of Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants under district level <strong>Punjab</strong> Nirman Programme<br />

and 48 Reverse Osmosis Plants were installed in Gidderbaha constituency. An amount of<br />

Rs.2500.00 lac has been provided in the Annual Plan 2008-09 and same was released to the<br />

districts of Bathinda (Rs.650.00 lac), Mansa (Rs.600.00 lac), Faridkot (Rs. 460.00 lac),<br />

Sangrur (Rs. 70.00 lac), Tarn Taran (Rs. 70.00 lac) and Muktsar (Rs. 1050.00 lac). Out of the<br />

proposed 471 villages, RO plants in 468 villages have been installed.<br />

11.6.57 A provision of Rs. 50.00 lac was made for 2009-10 against which an<br />

expenditure of Rs. 2500.00 lac was incurred. A token provision of Rs. 0.10 lac is made in<br />

the Annual Plan 2010-<strong>2011</strong>. No outlay has been provided in the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

CS-1 National Rural Water Supply Programme (NRWSP) (100% GoI):<br />

Outlay – Rs. 10000.00 lac<br />

11.6.58 To expedite the coverage of problem villages and partially covered villages,<br />

Government of India provides funds on 100% basis under this programme.<br />

11.6.59 An outlay of Rs. 50000.00 lac was earmarked in the 11 th Five Year Plan. An<br />

expenditure of Rs. 813.26 lac was incurred during 2007-08. Government of India has made a<br />

total allocation of Rs. 8656.00 lac for the year 2008-09 under all Centrally Sponsored<br />

Schemes ARWSP Normal/ Quality Affected & Swajaldhara. Under this scheme, out of total
