HE-16 <strong>Punjab</strong> Open University<br />

11.1.72 This scheme has been incorporated with the purpose to set up <strong>Punjab</strong> Open<br />

University in the <strong>State</strong>. A token provision of Rs. 1.00 lac was provided in the Annual Plan<br />

2009- 10. No outlay has been provided in the Annual Plan 2010-11 and <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

CS-5 Scholarship for the study of Hindi in non-Hindi speaking areas.<br />

Outlay – Rs. 13.37 lac<br />

11.1.73 Under this 100% centrally sponsored scheme scholarships are awarded to<br />

those students whose mother tongue is other than Hindi and are studying in non-Hindi states.<br />

Scholarship is provided @ Rs. 300/- , Rs. 500/- and Rs. 1000/- pm for classes 10+1, 10+2,<br />

graduate and postgraduate classes. An outlay of Rs. 200.00 lac is provided for the 11th Five<br />

Year Plan. An expenditure of Rs. 10.29 lac was incurred during 2007-08. However, no<br />

expdnditure was incurred during 2009-10 and 2010-11 respectively. An outlay of Rs. 13.37<br />

lac is provided for the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

CS-4 National Merit Scholarship<br />

Outlay – Rs. 0.00 lac<br />

11.1.74 Under this 100% centrally sponsored scheme, scholarship is provided to<br />

brilliant but poor students for post matric study. The scholarships are granted @ Rs. 300/-,<br />

Rs. 500/- and Rs. 750/- pm for 10+1 and 10+2, graduation and post graduation classes<br />

respectively. An outlay of Rs. 150.00 lac is provided for the 11 th Five Year Plan. An outlay<br />

of Rs. 71.91 lac was provided in the Annual Plan 2009- 10 to meet the backlog of previous<br />

years. Implementing department has taken up the matter with GoI for revalidation of the<br />

amount, however, no expenditure was incurred under the scheme. From the year 2010-11<br />

onwards, GoI is to provide funds directly to the institutions.
