inclusive and enabling environment. The entire expenditure under the scheme is borne by the<br />

Government of India which provides maximum of Rs. 3000/- per disabled student to the<br />

state for providing aids and appliances, access to learning material etc. In addition, the<br />

responsibility of the state government is to provide top up of Rs. 600/- per child per annum<br />

towards scholarship. The state government has already identified <strong>12</strong>291 disabled students.<br />

An outlay of Rs. 50.00 lac was provided in the Annual Plan 2010-11 to provide state<br />

support for Inclusive Education for disabled at secondary stage, against which no expenditure<br />

was incurred. An outlay of Rs. 73.21 lac is provided for the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

New Schemes<br />

EDE-8 Providing furniture for students at primary level in government schools.<br />

Outlay – Rs. 5959.00 lac<br />

11.1.23 This is a new plan scheme inducted during <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong> for providing furniture-<br />

desks and stools to primary schools. An amount of Rs. 5959.00 lac has been provided during<br />

<strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong> to benefit 11,91,800/- primary students @ Rs. 500 per student.<br />

EDE-9 Provision of utensils for students for Mid Day Meal.<br />

Outlay – Rs. 860.00 lac<br />

11.1.24 This scheme aims at providing one plate and spoon at cost of Rs. 50/- per<br />

student to 17.20 lac students under Mid Day Meal scheme. An amount of Rs. 860.00 lac is<br />

provided for the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

EDS-2 Information & Communication Technology (ICT) in <strong>Punjab</strong> schools<br />

Outlay – Rs. 3093.35 lac<br />

11.1.25 This scheme is being implemented in the ratio of 75:25 between GoI and the<br />

state govt for providing ICT infrastructure on BOOT to students of VI to XII classes. The<br />

project has been implemented in 4965 schools in phased manner i.e. 1307 schools in phase-I,<br />

1573 schools in phase-II and 2085 schools in phase III. Under phase-IV, another 450 schools
