ITI-15 Provision of deficit budget under the “Introduction of Hospitality<br />

courses” with the assistance of Ministry of Tourism, GoI.<br />

Outlay-Rs. 20.00 lac<br />

11.15.14 To start new trades in the hospitality will be a gift for youth and meet the<br />

demand of skilled labour of industries/ services sectors and passed out can get jobs in the<br />

local industry and can also start their self –employment ventures. GoI has approved ITI (W)<br />

Kharar, ITI Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar to start the hospitality courses. The first four<br />

courses will be run as complete package with 20 students per unit and each course will run in<br />

double shift. Salary of the staff and instructional staff etc is to be borne by the state<br />

government. GoI has already approved Rs. 200.00 lac each for these two institutes. Initial<br />

seed money of Rs. 5.00 lac to both the ITI s has been released by GoI. The state government<br />

has the responsibility of provision of staff and recurring expenditure until the scheme<br />

becomes self sustainable. An outlay of Rs. 20.00 lac is provided for the Annual Plan<br />

<strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

New Scheme<br />

ITI-16 To provide infrastructure to ITI s for various MES sectors and funds for<br />

SDI cell.<br />

Outlay Rs. 50.00 lac<br />

11.15.15 A new scheme has been included in the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong> with the view to<br />

provide funds for upgradation of infrastructure of ITI s providing Modular Employable Skills<br />

and for the setting up of Skill Development Initiative cell. Modalities of the scheme are<br />

being finalized by the department. An outlay of Rs. 50.00 lac is provided for the Annual Plan<br />

<strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

100% Centrally Sponsored Schemes<br />

CS-11 Expansion and upgradation of skill development vocational training<br />

facilities in border area- opening of new ITI’s in the unrepresented blocks<br />

and upgradation of existing ITI’s (100%CSS).<br />

Outlay Rs. 0.10 lac<br />

11.15.16 At present, there are 111 Government ITI’s in the <strong>State</strong> of <strong>Punjab</strong>. There are<br />

still some blocks left unrepresented in the border districts, where there is no government<br />

ITI’s. These blocks are located in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur and Ferozepur. The full<br />

facilities for imparting skill/vocational training are not available in border areas and the<br />

number of institutions located in border districts is very less. The provision of vocational<br />

training facilities would generate employment opportunities and would help in controlling
