SWC-1 Macro Management Work Plan for Soil Conservation (90:10)(CSS)<br />

2.2.4 A centrally sponsored macro management scheme duly approved by GoI was<br />

launched in the Annual Plan 2001-2002 with a ratio 90:10 between GoI and GoP. The<br />

central assistance to the states for the work plan is in the ratio of 80% grant and 20% loan.<br />

The work plan has been formulated with the merger of the old centrally sponsored schemes<br />

with the aim to provide encouragement to irrigation through use of drip irrigation and<br />

treatment of catchment area of Ghaggar river and incorporation of new programmes. The<br />

physical target for 2010-11 is 8000 ha. The main objectives of the scheme are.<br />

(1) National Watershed Development Programme for Rainfed Areas<br />

(NWDPRA): To enhance the productivity of rainfed degraded soils, the soil<br />

and water conservation works are to be carried out in 26 selected sub-water<br />

sheds covering 31,286 ha in the Kandi area during 11 th plan.<br />

(2) Treatment of catchments area of flood prone river Ghaggar and river<br />

valley project(FPR-RVP): Soil erosion control works in the catchments area<br />

of river Ghaggar in 5000 ha of Mohali and Ropar districts to be carried out<br />

during 11 th plan.<br />

(3) Strengthening of <strong>State</strong> Land Use <strong>Board</strong>: Preparation of soil inventory for<br />

better land use, studies, seminars, awareness campaigns etc. to be carried out,<br />

however the financing of this component has been stopped by GoI w.e.f. July<br />

2009.<br />

2.2.5 During 2007-08 & 2008-09 the expenditure incurred was Rs. 58.30 lac and Rs.<br />

65.83 lac respectively. The expenditure during the year 2009-10 was Rs. 2.73 lac and the<br />

physical achievement was 152 ha. An expenditure of Rs. 57.00 lac was incurred against the<br />

approved outlay of Rs. 100.00 lac during 2010-11 and physical target of 4919 ha had been<br />

achieved. The outlay provided for Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong> is Rs. 100.00 lac to cover physical<br />

target of 8000 ha.<br />

SWC-2 Scheme on Micro Irrigation (80:20)(CSS)<br />

Outlay – Rs. 375.00 lac<br />

2.2.6 This scheme on micro irrigation has been started from the year 2005-06 on<br />

80:20 basis with the objective to promote the drip and sprinkler irrigation by providing
