TM 15 Investment in <strong>Punjab</strong> Tourism Development Corporation –Transfer of<br />

properties of PTDC to Tourism Department, <strong>Punjab</strong><br />

10.3.41 Pursuant to the state government policy on disinvestment, the projects /<br />

complexes of <strong>Punjab</strong> Tourism Development Corporation is to be disinvested and transferred<br />

to Tourism Department. An expenditure of Rs. 29.67 lac has been incurred during 2008-09.<br />

No expenditure has been incurred under this scheme during the year 2009-10 and 2010-11.<br />

TM 16 Creation of Corpus Fund for District Level Tourism Heritage and<br />

Promotion Societies<br />

Outlay -Rs. 200.00 lac<br />

10.3.42 Under this scheme, a corpus fund would be provided to the district level<br />

tourism heritage and promotion societies @ Rs 50.00 lac per society/per district to enable<br />

them to maintain/upkeep/manage the tourist infrastructure created in the state with the central<br />

assistance. An outlay of Rs. 200.00 lac is provided for the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

TM 17 Implementation of Tourism Master Plan prepared by UNWTO<br />

Outlay - Rs. 1.00 lac<br />

10.3.43 The state government has signed a MoU on 11.01.08 with United Nations<br />

World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for preparing a draft tourism master plan focusing<br />

the following components<br />

• Formulation of tourism master plan for the period 2008-2023.<br />

• Five-year Action Plan 2008-13 to stimulate the implementation of the<br />

recommendations given in the master plan.<br />

• Capacity building programme for state government officials in tourism<br />

development, management, marketing etc. and<br />

• Formulation of detailed integrated development plans for two pilot areas.<br />

The recommendations submitted by UNWTO are under consideration of the<br />

state government. A token outlay of Rs. 1.00 lac is provided in the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

TM 18 Development of Tourist infrastructure in the <strong>State</strong> to be funded by<br />

ADB (ADB 70:30 <strong>State</strong>)<br />

Outlay- Rs. 1800.00 lac<br />

10.3.44 The Department of Tourism has a plan to develop the tourist infrastructure in<br />

the state with the assistance of Asian Development Bank (ADB). The total cost of this project<br />

is Rs. 398.40 crore. 70% cost which comes to about Rs. 278.88 crore would be funded by<br />

ADB as a loan and the state is required to contribute 30% of the total cost which comes to<br />

about Rs. 119.52 crore. The total requirement to be contributed by the state over a period of<br />
