11.<strong>12</strong>.41 As per guidelines issued by GOI, Ministry of Women and Child<br />

Development, ‘Rajiv Gandhi scheme for empowerment of adolescent girls-‘SABLA’(50:50)<br />

has been launched for the empowerment of adolescent girls (11-18 years) in 6 districts of the<br />

<strong>State</strong> namely Gurdaspur, Faridkot, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Fatehgarh Sahib and Mansa<br />

covering 50 blocks. The main objective of the scheme is to enable the adolescent girls for<br />

self development, to improve their nutrition and health status, promote awareness about<br />

health hygiene, reproductive and sexual health, family and child care etc. The scheme<br />

replaces the existing ‘Nutrition Programme for Adolescent Girls (NPAG)’ and ‘Nutrition<br />

(Kisohri Shakti Yojana)’ in 6 selected districts in the <strong>State</strong>. The rate of supplementary<br />

nutrition fixed under ICDS scheme has been followed under this scheme i.e. Rs. 5.00 per day<br />

per beneficiary for 300 days in a year. An expenditure of Rs. 136.51 lac, Rs. 21.88 lac and<br />

Rs. 22.98 lac was incurred under NPAG during 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10 respectively.<br />

An expenditure of Rs. 190.00 lac was incurred under ‘SABLA’ scheme to cover 1,02,960<br />

beneficiaries during 2010-11. An outlay of Rs. 1544.40 lac is provided in the Annual Plan<br />

<strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

NT(D)-3 Nutrition (Kishori Shakti Yojana)<br />

11.<strong>12</strong>.42 ‘Kishori Shakti Yojana’ scheme was introduced under ICDS to address the<br />

life cycle approach of human development. The objective of the scheme is to prepare the<br />

adolescent girls to understand and learn the significance of personal hygiene environment,<br />

sanitation, nutrition, first-aid, health and nutrition education, family life, child care and<br />

development etc and to prepare healthy mother. The scheme has two components (i) Training<br />

to adolescent girls and (ii) Supplementary nutrition to the adolescent girls. Expenditure for<br />

training component is borne by GOI on Non-Plan side and nutrition component is borne by<br />

the <strong>State</strong> Government. This scheme is to be implemented in 14 districts of the <strong>State</strong> except 6
