An amount of Rs. 20.00 Crore as an ACA has been provided by the <strong>Planning</strong><br />

Commission during 2010-11. A token provision of Rs. 1.00 lac is provided for the Annual<br />

Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

2.3.44 Presently, the Department of Animal Husbandry is extending Animal Health<br />

Care Service to livestock owners through 1367 Veterinary Hospitals (out of these 582 Vety.<br />

Hospitals have been transferred to Zila Parishads), 1485 Veterinary Dispensaries and 19<br />

Veterinary Polyclinics. These institutions are in dilapidated condition and need<br />

repair/renovation. On the basis of recommendation made by the National Commission on<br />

Agriculture in 1976, the GoI has implemented a new scheme ‘Establishment and<br />

Strengthening of Existing Veterinary Hospitals and Dispensaries’ on 75:25 sharing basis<br />

between GoI and the state government during 2010-11. Upgradation of 100 Veterinary<br />

Dispensaries, repair of 50 Veterinary Hospitals and construction of 21 Veterinary<br />

Dispensaries would be undertaken under this scheme.<br />

The scheme had been included with an outlay of Rs.133.33 lac as 25% state<br />

share in the Revised Estimates during 2010-11. An expenditure of Rs. 133.33 lac had been<br />

incurred during 2010-11. An outlay of Rs. 270.00 lac as 25% state share is provided for the<br />

Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

2.3.45 The main objectives of the scheme are to strengthen the disease diagnostic<br />

capability of the state laboratories and to carry out the activities of National Project on<br />

Rinderpest Eradication in order to satisfy the OIE (Office International Epizootes)<br />

specification so as to keep the country free of rinderpest.<br />

2.3.46 An outlay of Rs.300.00 lac is provided for 11 th<br />

Five Year Plan. An<br />

expenditure of Rs.26.44 lac, Rs.17.86 lac and Rs. 5.96 lac was incurred during the year 2007-<br />

08, 2008-09 and 2009-10 respectively. Against an expenditure of Rs. 5.94 lac incurred<br />

during 2010-11. An outlay of Rs. 40.00 lac is provided for the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.
