RB-6 (ii) <strong>State</strong> Share for upgradation of Roads under PMGSY<br />

8.2.11 The following two types of state share is required under PMGSY:-<br />

Outlay – Rs. 1.00 lac<br />

(i) One time state share of Rs.29.93 crore required under Phase-VIII works as per<br />

revised guidelines of PMGSY. This state share could not be released by the state treasury<br />

during 2009-10 and 2010-11.<br />

(ii) The roads completed under PMGSY are required to be maintained by the<br />

state. This requirement occurs annually. During 2009-10, Rs.<strong>12</strong> crore were released for this<br />

purpose. Henceforth, this requirement is proposed to be met from the grant to be given by the<br />

13 th Finance Commission on non-plan side for maintenance of roads.<br />

RB-8 Upgradation, widening and strengthening of Majitha- Kathu Nangal-<br />

Tahli Sahib Road and Wadala-Verram Kotla Gujjram road (PIDB)<br />

Outlay - Nil<br />

8.2.13 A new scheme with the assistance of PIDB has been incorporated in the<br />

Annual Plan 2009-10. Upgradation, widening and strengthening of Majitha- Kathu Nangal-<br />

Tahli Sahib road and Wadala-Verram Kotla Gujjram road (PIDB). An expenditure of Rs.<br />

3.52 crore was incurred in the Annual Plan 2009-10. An expenditure of Rs. 8.75 crore has<br />

been incurred during the year 2010-11.<br />

RB-8(i) Upgradation and Construction of Link Roads (PIDB)<br />

Outlay –Nil<br />

8.2.14 A new scheme for upgradation and construction of link roads (PIDB) was<br />

included later on in Annual Plan 2010-11, under which an expenditure of Rs. 1.00 crore is<br />

incurred during the year 2010-11<br />

Centrally Sponsored Scheme<br />

CS-1 Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-100%<br />

Outlay – Rs. 35000.00 lac<br />

8.2.15 Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana, a 100% centrally sponsored scheme,<br />

was launched in the country by the Government of India in December 2000, 50% of the cess<br />

on high speed diesel (HSD) is earmarked for the programme. Under this scheme, first link<br />

(connectivity) is to be provided to all connected habitations having population 500 or more in<br />

the rural areas by the year 2007. Approximately 42000 km of rural link roads connecting the<br />

villages and marketing yards are being looked after by Government of <strong>Punjab</strong> from its own
