Outlay - Rs.1600.00 lac<br />

7.7 Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT) Mohali, a state<br />

government institute involved in pioneer role of providing qualitative manpower to the textile<br />

industry in the state. An amount of Rs. 5 crore (ACA) was released during 2005-06. NIIFT<br />

complex at Mohali is under construction. The National Institute of Fashion Technology<br />

(NIIFT) has agreed in principle to upgrade this Institute to a national level institute. To meet<br />

the NIIFT norms, additional land/building and other infrastructure is required. Moreover, the<br />

merger of this institute with NIIFT, New Delhi is at the advanced stage. For this Rs. 60.00<br />

crore has to be paid to the NIIFT New Delhi. The building and equipment of NIIFT Mohali is<br />

estimated to be Rs. <strong>12</strong>.00 crore. So the remaining amount of Rs. 48.00 lac has to be paid to<br />

NIIFT New Delhi in three equal installments.<br />

7.8 An outlay of Rs. 4848.00 lac is provided for the 11 th Five Year Plan (2007-<br />

<strong>12</strong>). No expenditure was incurred during the year 2009-10 under the scheme. However, an<br />

outlay of Rs. 1600.00 lac is provided for the year <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong> to make the payment of 1 st<br />

installment to NIIFT New Delhi, against the expenditure of Rs. 300.00 lac during the year<br />

2010-11.<br />

VSI-4.1 Improvement of existing Infrastructure of Industrial Focal Points/<br />

Areas/ Estates<br />

7.9 <strong>Punjab</strong> Small Industries & Export Corporation (PSIEC) had developed<br />

industrial focal points at Ludhiana, Mohali, Chanallon, Mandi Gobindgarh, Naya Nangal,<br />

Dera Bassi, Nabha, Sangrur, Bathinda, Kotkapura, Moga, Goindwal Sahib Phase-I & II,<br />

Batala, SBS Nagar, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Tanda, Malout, Pathankot, Dhanadri Kalan &<br />

Amritsar.The infrastructure facilities created at these focal points deteriorated due to lack of<br />

funds and could not attract buyers, particularly those from outside the country. So there is a<br />

dire need to improve/upgrade the infrastructure of these industrial focal points/areas/estates.<br />

The works required to be taken up at these industrial focal points include repair/upgradation<br />

of water supply/sewerage/storm water drains/ replacement of 70 HSPV watt fittings/repair of<br />

muffs/junction boxes/provision of shrubs, permanent trees, warbed wire etc. During 2008-09,<br />

an amount of Rs. 20 crore of ACA was provided for this purpose, which has been utilized<br />

fully.<br />

An ACA of Rs. 25.00 crore have been released by GoI for this purpose during<br />

2009-10, out of which Rs. 10 crore have been released by the state finance department during<br />

the year 2010-11. An outlay of Rs. 1000.00 lac is provided in the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>
