DRME-2(a) Upgradation of infrastructure in Government Medical College<br />

and Hospital, Amritsar<br />

Outlay – Rs. 1616.26 lac<br />

11.5.20 The Government Medical College Amritsar is one of the oldest and premier<br />

medical institutions of the <strong>State</strong>. Five hospitals namely SGTB Hospital, TB and Chest<br />

Hospital and Sanatorium, Children Hospital, Ram Lal Eye and ENT Hospital and Guru<br />

Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar are attached to this college. Medical College Amritsar having<br />

150 admissions for MBBS students annually and 100 postgraduate students has been<br />

rendering pioneer service in the medical field to the <strong>State</strong>. Apart from normal specialties like<br />

Medicine and Surgery etc. SGTB Hospital, Amritsar provides services in the field of Cardiothoracic<br />

Surgery, Urology, Nephrology, Neurology, Plastic Surgery and Cardiology as super<br />

specialties. <strong>State</strong> government plans to have a state-of-the art hospital at Amritsar which<br />

should have all modern super specialty medical facilities. Facilities available in the Medical<br />

College Amritsar would be upgraded to the desired level. A 20-bedded special room unit<br />

with capacity for future expansion upto 50-beds would be constructed alongside GND<br />

Hospital, Amritsar. The Government Medical College Amritsar is being upgraded at an<br />

estimated cost of Rs. 182.00 crore under Prime Minister Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY)<br />

with contribution of GoI Rs. <strong>12</strong>5.00 crore and that of GoP Rs. 57.00 crore.<br />

11.5.21 An outlay of Rs. 5000.00 lac(Patiala, Amritsar) is provided for the 11 th Five<br />

Year Plan for construction works, machinery and equipment and material supply. An outlay<br />

of Rs. 1000.00 lac had been provided for the Annual Plan 2008-09, against which an<br />

expenditure of Rs. 113.28 lac was incurred. An outlay of Rs. 1094.00 lac had been provided<br />

for the Annual Plan 2010-11, against which an expenditure of Rs. 664.49 lac was incurred.<br />

An outlay of Rs. 1616.26 lac is provided for the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>, of which Rs. 1464.16<br />

lac stands earmarked for construction works, machinery & equipment and Rs. 152.10 lac for<br />

salary of newly created staff on contractual basis.<br />

DRME-3 Upgradation of infrastructure in Government Ayurvedic College and<br />

Hospital, Patiala<br />

Outlay – Rs. <strong>12</strong>4.50 lac<br />

11.5.22 The Government Ayurvedic College Patiala is one of the pioneer institutions of<br />

the country in the field of Ayurvedic education. The Government Ayurvedic Hospital Patiala<br />

was established in 1952 for imparting clinical training to the undergraduate students of<br />

Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Patiala as well as providing Indoor and Outdoor treatment<br />

to the patients. There is sanctioned strength of 106 beds in the hospital.<br />
