LA-1 Establishment of World <strong>Punjab</strong>i Centre at Patiala<br />

Outlay – Rs. 1.00 lac<br />

11.1.75 The objective of this scheme is to promote <strong>Punjab</strong>i at global level. This centre<br />

will be managed by a body of eminent <strong>Punjab</strong>i educationalist, intellectuals and cultural<br />

personalities of repute dedicated to the cause of advancement of <strong>Punjab</strong>i. A one time ACA of<br />

Rs. 3.00 crore was received from GoI during 2005-06 for the construction work, which is yet<br />

to be released to the Administrative Department by Finance Department. A token provision<br />

of Rs. 1.00 lac is made for the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

LA-2 Development of <strong>Punjab</strong>i, Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit & Celebration of<br />

<strong>Punjab</strong>i week<br />

Outlay – Rs. 100.00 lac<br />

11.1.76 The development of <strong>Punjab</strong>i, Hindi, Urdu and Sanskrit is taken care under this<br />

scheme by holding seminars, discussions, poetic symposium, honoring eminent writers by<br />

conferring <strong>Punjab</strong>i Sahit Rattan and Shiromani awards. Every year 15 writers, literatures,<br />

scholars and artists who have done praise worthy work in different fields are honored with<br />

Shiromani awards of Rs. 2.50 lac. In non- <strong>Punjab</strong>i <strong>State</strong>s, literary and cultural events are<br />

organised. The best representative literary works of all 15 regional Indian Languages is<br />

translated into <strong>Punjab</strong>i. Grant-in-aid is provided to the <strong>Punjab</strong>i literary organizations outside<br />

<strong>Punjab</strong> and also to the libraries. Poor and famous writers/artisans are given financial help and<br />

competitions of <strong>Punjab</strong>i calligraphy are organised. Apart from all these tasks, on the occasion<br />

of “<strong>Punjab</strong> Day” from 1 st November to 7 th November, “<strong>Punjab</strong>i Week” is celebrated<br />

throughout <strong>Punjab</strong> every year. An outlay of Rs. 150.00 lac is provided for the 11 th Five Year<br />

Plan. An expenditure of Rs. 9.97 lac, Rs. 91.60 lac, Rs. 15.00 lac and Rs. 90.00 lac was<br />

incurred during 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 respectively. An outlay of<br />

Rs. 100.00 lac is provided for the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

LA-3 Publication of Books<br />

Outlay – Rs. 50.00 lac<br />

11.1.77 Rare and reference books are published/re-printed under this scheme. These<br />

publications include <strong>Punjab</strong>i Encyclopedia, <strong>Punjab</strong> Kosh, Dictionaries, Glossaries, translation
