TE-6 Converting Technical Institutions of rural areas of <strong>Punjab</strong> into<br />

Multidisciplined Academies for enhancement of skill development and<br />

employability of rural youth under NABARD Project-RIDF-XIV.<br />

11.2.7 It has been proposed to promote six technical institutes i.e. Beant Singh<br />

College of Engineering & Technology, Gurdaspur; Shaheed Bhagat Singh College of<br />

Engineering & Technology, Ferozepur; Multi-Disciplined Academy, Sultanpur Lodhi and<br />

three Government Polytechnic Colleges, Guru Teg Bahadur, Moga; Bhikhiwind, Amritsar<br />

and Government Polytechnic for Girls, Dinanagar, Gurdaspur into multidisciplined<br />

academies for enhancement of skill development and employability of rural youth under<br />

NABARD Project. Under this scheme polytechnic would have engineering courses as well<br />

as 10+2 classes, similarly, engineering college would have 10+2 classes and polytechnic<br />

courses. Project was sanctioned by NABARD on 4-<strong>12</strong>-2008 with total cost of the project is<br />

Rs. 8176.96 lac out of which Rs. 6187.24 lac is to be provided as loan by NABARD and<br />

Rs. 1989.72 lac is state government’s contribution. NABARD sanctioned Rs. 2744.17 lac as<br />

its share during 2009-10, out of which an amount of Rs. <strong>12</strong>37.45 lac was spent during 2009-<br />

10 and Rs. 1506.67 lac during 2010-11. NABARD has further released Rs. <strong>12</strong>62.11 lac in the<br />

year 2010-11, which would be spent during <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>. An amount of Rs. 3500.00 lac is<br />

provided for the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

<strong>State</strong> Funded Schemes<br />

TE-2 Enhanced compensation of land for government technical institutions in<br />

the state<br />

Outlay- Rs. 300.00 lac<br />

11.2.8 The scheme envisages to cover any enhanced compensation of land which has<br />

been purchased by the <strong>Punjab</strong> Government for the technical institutions. An outlay of<br />

Rs. 500.00 lac is provided for this scheme in the 11 th Five Year Plan. An expenditure of<br />

Rs. 599.63 lac, Rs.722.24 lac and Rs. 199.90 lac was incurred during 2008-09, 2009-10 and<br />

2010-11 respectively to meet the expenditure on account of payment of any pending<br />

compensation of land as per court decisions. An outlay of Rs. 300.00 lac is provided for the<br />

Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.
