operational cost of an Adarsh school with about 2000 students with a cap of Rs. 1600 per<br />

student shall be shared on 70:30 basis between state government and private partners. No fee<br />

is charged from the students. 15 Adarsh schools are already functioning, 52 sites have been<br />

allotted to various corporate houses, 41 MoUs have been signed and the construction work<br />

on 15 sites has started. The <strong>State</strong> share is to be provided by <strong>Punjab</strong> Education Development<br />

<strong>Board</strong> from the funds collected from cess on liquor.<br />

11.1.39 An outlay of Rs. 65000.00 lac is provided in the 11 th Five Year Plan. No<br />

expenditure was incurred during 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 respectively. Since the<br />

funds under the scheme are provided by <strong>Punjab</strong> Educational Development <strong>Board</strong>, a token<br />

provision of Rs. 1.00 lac is made for Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

11.1.40 To achieve administrative efficiency of the Education department, a Shiksha<br />

Bhawan proposed to be constructed. GMADA has allotted land measuring 4.39 acres in<br />

Sector-77, SAS Nagar. The total cost of the land is Rs. 19.92 crore. An outlay of Rs. 500.00<br />

lac is provided in the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

EDS-11 Vocational Education Programme<br />

Outlay – Rs. 1.00 lac<br />

11.1.41 The main aim of the scheme is to provide infrastructure facilities in 253<br />

vocational schools. About 20,000 students are being imparted vocational training every year.<br />

A token provision of Rs. 1.00 lac is provided for the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

EDS-16 Creation of new posts in the schools under rationalization policy- salary<br />

scheme.<br />

Outlay – Rs. 4000.00 lac<br />

11.1.42 As per the rationalization policy of the state government, a detailed exercise<br />

was carried out by the School Education department regarding surplus posts and the posts<br />

where teachers required and the needy places. After completing the necessary exercise, it was<br />

observed that 5423 new posts are required which includes 1700 math masters/mistresses,<br />

1600 <strong>Punjab</strong>i masters/mistresses, 950 Hindi masters/mistresses, 600 science<br />

masters/mistresses, 350 art and crafts teachers, 150 lecturers and 73 principals. An
