Outlay – Rs. 50.00 lac<br />

2.3.47 The aim of the scheme is to strengthen pig breeding farms for production of<br />

quality piglets for distribution among the pig breeders belonging to the weaker sections of the<br />

society and other farmers in order to give an impetus to piggery development in the state.<br />

2.3.48 An outlay of Rs.8.55 lac is provided for 11 th<br />

Five Year Plan. An outlay of<br />

Rs.50.00 lac is provided for the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

2.3.49 The 18 th quinquennial livestock Census was carried out during 2007-08 as per<br />

the guidelines issued by Government of India with the existing sanctioned field staff of the<br />

Department.<br />

2.3.50 An outlay of Rs.600.00 lac is provided for 11 th Five Year Plan. An<br />

expenditure of Rs.224.31 lac, Rs. 181.69 lac and Rs.41.41 lac was incurred during the year<br />

2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10 respectively. An expenditure of Rs. 13.65 lac had been<br />

incurred during 2010-11. An outlay of Rs.60.00 lac is provided for the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

CS(AH)-4 Animal Disease Management and Regulatory Medicines- Establishment<br />

of Regional Disease Diagnostic Lab. (100% CSS) – (Direct Release)<br />

Outlay - NIL<br />

2.3.51 The Govt. of India, Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Animal<br />

Husbandry and Dairying accorded approval for the setting up of Regional Disease Diagnostic<br />

Laboratory at Jalandhar. The laboratory is being set up as per International Standards in<br />

technology to provide disease diagnostic facilities to the Livestock of Northern Indian <strong>State</strong>s.<br />

After completion, the lab will facilitate quick diagnosis of animal diseases which will help in<br />

dispensing the right and economical treatment to the animals. It will conform to the norms of<br />

FAO and OIE and will be approved by the International Institutes.<br />

2.3.52 An outlay of Rs.638.00 lac is provided for 11 th<br />

Five Year Plan. An<br />

expenditure of Rs.40.78 lac, Rs. 0.30 lac and Rs.80.20 lac was incurred during the year 2007-<br />

08, 2008-09 and 2009-10 respectively. Govt. of India provides 100% grant directly to the<br />

Institute for addition/alteration in the buildings, supply of equipments, staff traveling
