This Hospital meets the requirements of Faridkot, Bathinda, Moga, Muktsar, Ferozepur and<br />

Mansa districts and even district Ganga Nagar of Rajasthan <strong>State</strong>.<br />

11.5.28 Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot came into existence in 1973 as a<br />

private medical college of the Guru Gobind Singh Educational Trust. The <strong>Punjab</strong><br />

government took-over the management of this college in the year 1978. Guru Gobind Singh<br />

Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot was transferred to Baba Farid University of Health<br />

Sciences, Faridkot vide notification no.8/02/2005-1HB-III/6308, dated 31/10/2006. At<br />

present, this college has 50 admissions in the MBBS course, 7 admissions in PG course in<br />

four subjects i.e. Surgery, Opthalmology, Skin & VD and Psychiatry and 20 admissions in<br />

DMLT course annually.<br />

11.5.29 An outlay of Rs. 800.00 lac is provided for the 11 th Five Year Plan for<br />

construction works, machinery & equipment and material supply. An outlay of Rs. 500.00<br />

lac had been provided for the Annual Plan 2008-09, against which an expenditure of Rs.<br />

68.42 lac was incurred. An outlay of Rs. 525.50 lac was provided for the Annual Plan 2009-<br />

10, against which an expenditure of Rs. 109.07 lac was incurred on account of ACA(2007-<br />

08). Against the approved outlay of Rs. 700.00 lac for the Annual Plan 2010-11, an<br />

expenditure of Rs. 699.48 lac was incurred. An outlay of Rs. 2629.00 lac is provided for the<br />

Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong> on capital side.<br />

11.5.30 To bring an overall improvement in healthcare in backward districts, state<br />

government had constructed a Paramedical Institute at village Badal only for women. This<br />

institute is functioning w.e.f. Sept., 2001. This institute not only runs various graduate and<br />

diploma courses, but also provides in-service training to the female paramedics. This institute<br />

was envisaged to be operationalized in two phases. As per the plan, presently the Institute is<br />

successfully running courses of General Nursing and Mid Wifery(GNM), Diploma in<br />

Laboratory Technician(DMLT) and Radiographer for the phase-I. New courses of B.Sc<br />

Nursing(50 seats), Bachelor of Physiotherapy(10 seats) and Bachelor of Medical Lab<br />

Technology(10 seats) were started in the years 2007-08 and 2008-09.
