AC-3 Holding of Musical and Cultural Festivals, heritage melas, seminars and<br />

Conferences<br />

Outlay - Rs. 100.00 lac<br />

11.4.5 The objective of this scheme is to promote the <strong>Punjab</strong>i culture by arranging<br />

cultural programmes in and outside the state and also organizing three heritage festivals<br />

every year at Patiala, Kapurthala, Faridkot and now proposed Bathinda. An outlay of Rs.<br />

1450.00 lac is provided for the 11 th Five Year Plan (2007-<strong>12</strong>). An expenditure of Rs. 130.00<br />

lac has been incurred during 2008-09 and Rs. 50.00 lac during 2009-10. Against the<br />

expenditure of Rs. 40.00 lac during 2010-11, an amount of Rs. 100.00 lac is provided in the<br />

Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

AC-4 Promotion of <strong>Punjab</strong>i Films and Tele- Films<br />

Outlay – Rs. 50.00 lac<br />

11.4.6 For the promotion of <strong>Punjab</strong>i films and tele- films, subsidy is provided under<br />

the <strong>Punjab</strong> Film Policy - 1994, for production of <strong>Punjab</strong>i Film(s) for organizing Film<br />

festivals/ for awards to prominent <strong>Punjab</strong>i film(s). An outlay of Rs. 250.00 lac is provided for<br />

11 th Five Year Plan (2007-<strong>12</strong>). A provision of Rs. 50.00 lac is provided in the Annual Plan<br />

<strong>2011</strong>-11 for payment of outstanding liabilities.<br />

Archaeology<br />

AC-5 Chemical conservation/preservation, landscaping and beautification of<br />

ancient and historical monuments of art objects including preservation of<br />

Quila Mubarak at Patiala<br />

Outlay - Rs.100.00 lac<br />

11.4.7 Under the <strong>Punjab</strong> Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites<br />

and Remains Act 1964, more than 65 ancient and historical monuments/mounds have been<br />

declared as protected in the <strong>Punjab</strong>. After declaration of the monuments as protected, the<br />

responsibility lies with the state government to preserve/conserve these monuments for<br />

posterity. Protected monuments include Quila Mubarak, Sheesh Mahal, Patiala, Aam khas<br />

bagh Sirhind, Diwan khana Sangrur, Kothi Kapurthala and Jahaji Haweli at Fatehgarh Sahib.<br />

The works relating to conservation and preservation of these complexes, protected<br />

monuments, art objects and antiques, searched through explorations/excavations operations<br />

are covered under this scheme. The status report is to be presented before the Hon’ble <strong>Punjab</strong><br />

and Haryana High Court.<br />

11.4.8 An outlay of Rs. 50.00 lac is provided for the 11 th Five Year Plan (2007-<strong>12</strong>). An<br />

expenditure of Rs. 2.40 lac has been incurred during 2008-09. An amount of Rs. 100.00 lac is<br />

provided in the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />
