14. EXTERNALLY AIDED PROJECTS<br />

An outlay of Rs. 503 crore has been provided for Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong> against the<br />

revised outlay of Rs. 290.66 crore during 2010-11 under the externally aided projects. An<br />

amount of Rs. 244.13 crore has been incurred during 2010-11.<br />

Road and Bridges<br />

I. World Bank Funded <strong>Punjab</strong> <strong>State</strong> Road Sector Project<br />

Outlay – Rs. 225000 lac<br />

14.1 The World Bank has approved <strong>Punjab</strong> <strong>State</strong> Road Sector Project (PSRSP) at a<br />

total cost of Rs. 1500.00 crore ($ 333 millions). The loan agreement with World Bank was<br />

signed on 26 th Feb., 2007. The project became effective on 2 nd April, 2007 and is to be<br />

completed by June, 20<strong>12</strong>.<br />

14.2 Under this project a total length of 1300 Kms (700 Kms in Phase-I and 600<br />

Kms in Phase-II) was proposed to be improved. In addition the project also aims to finance<br />

institutional strengthening of P.W.D (B&R).<br />

The present status of the project is as under:-<br />

1. Financial Status<br />

A. Total Project Cost - Rs.1,500.00 crore ($333 million)<br />

i. World Bank Funding - Rs.1,<strong>12</strong>5.00 crore ($ 250 million)<br />

@ 75%<br />

ii. GOP Funding - Rs. 375.00 crores ($ 83 million)<br />

@ 25%<br />

B. Total Receipts - Rs. 754.24 crore<br />

i. World Bank Share - Rs. 532.24 crore<br />

ii. GOP Share - Rs. 222.00 crore<br />

2. Physical Status<br />

A. Phase-I<br />

14.3 The Phase-I of project consists of following works<br />

i. Upgradation of 152 kms of roads at a total cost of Rs. 380 crore.<br />

ii. Rehabilitation of 205 Kms of roads at a total cost of Rs. 250 crore.<br />

iii. Periodic Maintenance of 350 Kms of roads at a total cost of Rs. 60 crore.<br />

All the Rehabilitation and periodic maintenance works stands completed and one out<br />

of three upgradation works also stands completed. The work on the following two<br />

upgradation works is in progress.<br />

i. Kharar – Banur - Tepla Road (40 Km /Rs. 108 crore)<br />

The work is likely to be completed by Feburary, <strong>2011</strong>.<br />

ii. Ludhiana – Malerkotla - Sangrur Road (72Km/Rs. 225 crore)
