production and economic status of the persons engaged in various fisheries activities by<br />

conducting catch assessment survey of inland fisheries. The scheme also includes<br />

information technology networking and census on inland fisheries along with strengthening<br />

and increasing the efficiency of the fisheries personnel responsible for implementation of the<br />

scheme.<br />

2.5.18 An outlay of Rs. 50.00 lac. is provided for 11 th<br />

Five Year Plan. An outlay of<br />

Rs. 10.00 lac is provided for the Annual Plan <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

2.6 AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH AND EDUCATION<br />

2.6.1 The main objective of the scheme is to strengthen research & development of<br />

technologies for food products, horticultural crops and to bring improvement in the field<br />

through bio-technological, conventional techniques, renewal energy technology and<br />

refinement of crop production technology.<br />

2.6.2 During 2007-08, an expenditure of Rs. 2000.00 lac was incurred out of Rural<br />

Development Fund (RDF). An expenditure of Rs. 700.00 lac and Rs. 2000.00 lac was<br />

incurred during 2008-09 and 2009-10 respectively. Against an expenditure of Rs. 2000.00<br />

lac incurred during 2010-11, an outlay of Rs. 3000.00 lac is provided for the Annual Plan<br />

<strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>.<br />

2.7 AGRICULTURAL FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS<br />

AFI - 1 <strong>State</strong> Government contribution in the purchase of debentures of SADB<br />

2.7.1 The <strong>Punjab</strong> <strong>State</strong> Cooperative Agricultural Development Bank is engaged in<br />

meeting the long term credit requirements of the farmers for the improvement of land,<br />

methods of cultivation mechanization of farms, minor irrigation, soil conservation works,<br />

development of horticulture etc. and the diversified activities such as dairy farming, poultry
