Ziel der Tagung ist eine zeitgeschichtlich nahe und interdisziplinäre
Diskussion der Frage nach politischer
und gesellschaftlicher Partizipation von Frauen in
muslimischen Gesellschaften vor, während und nach
dem Arabischen Frühling, sowie der Bedeutung von
Geschlechterkonstruktionen in einer Gesellschaft im
Wandel.

� Conference: "The Construction(s) of Conflict
and Peace", Exeter Centre for Ethno-Political
Studies’ (EXCEPS), University of Exeter, 9-10 July
2012
The conference will investigate the construction of
conflicts from a multidisciplinary perspective, incorporating
insights from both practitioners and academics.
It seeks to uncover how the interplay of economic
incentives, organizational cultures, political and social
climates, and personal and collective beliefs lead to
the production and privileging of particular types of
knowledge vis-à-vis conflict and peace.

The Gulf Research Meeting is organized by the Gulf
Research Centre Cambridge with the aim to provide
an academic environment to foster Gulf studies and to
encourage scholarly and academic exchange among
those working on or interested in the developments
that are defining the Gulf region and their constituent
societies. The 19 workshops focus on international relations,
politics, economics, and social issues pertaining
to the Gulf region.

Die Sommerschule findet im Rahmen der Bonner
Kollegforschergruppe „History and Society during
Mamluk Era (1250-1517)“ statt.
Hier werden sich die Teilnehmer mit den Theorien
und Methoden der Globalgeschichte ebenso auseinandersetzen
wie mit der Frage von area und Zeiträumen.
Anhand ausgewählter Interaktionsbeispiele wird der
Frage nachgegangen, wie sich die theoretischen und
methodischen Zugriffe plausibel an das zur Verfügung
stehende Quellenmaterial anwenden lassen.

„Religiöser Nonkonformismus und kulturelle Dynamik
– Nonkonformismus und Öffentlichkeit",
Bad Kösen, 20.-22. Juli 2012
Das Graduiertenkolleg untersucht Formen und Phänomene
abweichender Religionsausübung in ihrem
Wirken auf kulturellen und gesellschaftlichen Wandel.
Die Öffentlichkeit und die an ihrer Herstellung
beteiligten (politischen, massenmedialen u.a.) Instanzen
sind wichtige Bezugselemente sozialer Nonkonformität,
insofern die öffentliche Meinung implizit
oder explizit Konformitätserwartungen transportiert.
Nonkonforme Akteure wirken jedoch auch selbst auf
ihr öffentliches Umfeld, wodurch sich unter Umständen
der Charakter der Öffentlichkeit wandelt.
