1.1 Wichtige Hinweise für DAVO-
Mitglieder
Neuer Rekord der DAVO-Mitgliederzahl
Die Mitgliederzahl der DAVO ist bis zum 01.10.2011
auf die Rekordhöhe von 1293 gestiegen (siehe Abb.
unten). Dies bedeutet eine Zunahme um 139 Mitglieder
innerhalb eines Jahres. Am 18.06.2012 belief sich
die Mitgliederzahl bereits auf 1400.
Erfolgreicher DAVO-Kongress 2011 in Berlin
Mit mehr als 500 angemeldeten Teilnehmern war der
18. DAVO-Kongress mit weitem Abstand die größte
bisher von der DAVO durchgeführte Veranstaltung.
Der Dank für die von allen Teilnehmern gelobte Konferenz
gilt den Veranstalterinnen Prof. Dr. Gudrun
Krämer mit der Berlin Graduate School Muslim Cultures
and Societies – insbesondere Dr. Katharina
Nötzold – sowie Prof. Dr. Cilja Harders und der Arbeitsstelle
Vorderer Orient des Instituts für Politikwissenschaft
und dem Zentrum Moderner Orient, hier
vor allem Dr. Sonja Hegasy. Am meisten zu danken
ist Frau Amke Dietert, die zum achten Mal die Hauptarbeit
der Organisation des Kongresses geleistet hat.
DAVO-Dissertationspreis 2011
Der DAVO-Dissertationspreis 2011 für die beste
Dissertation aus dem Bereich der gegenwartsbezogenen
Orientforschung wurde zu gleichen Teilen verliehen
an Dr. André Bank (Universität Marburg), Dr.
Shadia Husseini de Araújo (Universität Münster) und
Dr. Carola Richter (Universität Erfurt); vgl. S. 8 ff.
19. Internationaler DAVO-Kongress in Erlangen,
2. – 4. Oktober 2012
Der nächste Kongress der DAVO findet in der Universität
Erlangen-Nürnberg statt und wird ausgerichtet
von Prof. Dr. Christoph Schumann (Professur für
Politik und Zeitgeschichte des Nahen Ostens) und Dr.
Jörn Thielmann (Erlanger Zentrum für Islam und
Recht in Europa EZIRE). Zuständig für die Organisation
ist erneut Amke Dietert, die Generalsekretärin
des Kongresses; siehe S. 30 ff

Further Increase in Membership of DAVO
Membership of DAVO reached a new record number
of 1293 in October 2011 (see diagram below). 139
new members joined DAVO in one year. The number
of members continued to rise to 1400 until 18 June
2012.
Very Successful Congress of DAVO at the
Free University of Berlin 2011
More the 500 participants registered for the 18th International
DAVO Congress – these were far more
scholars than ever before at a conference of DAVO.
The participants have to thank the hosts of his international
event Prof Dr Gudrun Krämer and the Berlin
Graduate School Muslim Cultures and Societies –
especially Dr Katharina Nötzold – as well as Prof Dr
Cilja Harders and the Arbeitsstelle Vorderer Orient of
the Institute for Political Sciences and the Zentrum
Moderner Orient, especially Dr Sonja Hegasy. The
great success of this congress is also due to the excellent
preparation of the conference by Amke Dietert.
DAVO Dissertation Award 2011
Dr André Bank (University of Marburg), Dr Shadia
Husseini de Araújo (University of Münster) and Dr
Carola Richter (University of Erfurt) received the
DAVO Dissertation Award 2011 for the best dissertations
in the field of contemporary studies on the Middle
East; see p. 8
19th International Congress of DAVO in Erlangen,
2 – 4 October 2012
The next International Congress of DAVO will take
place at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. It will
be hosted by Prof Dr Christoph Schumann (Professur
für Politik und Zeitgeschichte des Nahen Ostens) and
Dr Jörn Thielmann (Erlanger Zentrum für Islam und
Recht in Europa EZIRE). Amke Dietert, the General
Secretary of the DAVO Congress, will again be the
main organizer; see p. 30
