Aakhirah). Never (he shall never receive any good in <strong>the</strong> Aakhirah)! He<br />

was certainly opposed to Our Aayaat. I shall soon make him climb a<br />

mountain <strong>of</strong> Jahannam. Verily, he thought and (finally he) devised<br />

something (he decided to announce that <strong>the</strong> Qur'aan was magic and<br />

that Rasulullaah =was a magician). May he be destroyed! How does<br />

he plot? ~ ahe j be destroyed again! How does he plot? He looked (at<br />

<strong>the</strong> .Mushrikeen waiting for his reply) and <strong>the</strong>n frowned (to show dislike<br />

for <strong>the</strong> Qur'aan) and scowled. <strong>The</strong>n he turned away and was proud. He<br />

said, "This is nothing but magic recounted from (fables <strong>of</strong>) <strong>the</strong> past.<br />

This is nothing but <strong>the</strong> word <strong>of</strong> man." I shall soon enter him into<br />

Jahannam. {Surah Muddathir, verses 11 -26)(')<br />

According to ano<strong>the</strong>r narration, <strong>the</strong> verse that Rasulullaah @%! recited for<br />

Waleed was:<br />

Verily Allaah instructs (people to cary out) justice, Ihsaan (do things<br />

we//, as wefl as doing evewhing with <strong>the</strong> consciousness that Allaah is<br />

watching), and giving (charity) to relatives. And Allaah forbids immoral<br />

behaviour, evil and oppression. He advises you so that you may take<br />

heed (and <strong>the</strong>reby save ourselves fiom ruin andlahannam). {Surah ~ihl,<br />

verse<br />

Rasulullaah<br />

Invites Hadhrat Abu Sufyaan<br />

Hadhrat Mu'aawiya 3WW6 narrates that he was a young boy riding his donkey<br />

while his fa<strong>the</strong>r Hadhrat Abu Sufyaan ?&%'&% was riding ano<strong>the</strong>r animal with his<br />

wife Hind sitting behind him. <strong>The</strong>y were proceeding to Hadhrat Abu Sufyaan<br />

-s farm when <strong>the</strong>y heard <strong>the</strong> voice <strong>of</strong> Rasulullaah @$$. Addressing his son,<br />

Hadhrat Abu Sufyaan !&X%l!G said, "0 Mu'aawiya! Dismount <strong>the</strong> donkey so that<br />

Muhammad may mount." When Rasulullaah @@ mounted <strong>the</strong> donkey, he rode<br />

ahead for a while and <strong>the</strong>n turned to <strong>the</strong> family saying, "0 Abu Sufyaan bin Harb!<br />

0 Hind bint Utba! I swear by Allaah that you shall definitely die after which you<br />

shall certainly be resurrected. hereafter, <strong>the</strong> good shall proceed to Jannah while<br />

<strong>the</strong> evil ones shall head for Jahannam. I am telling you <strong>the</strong> absolute truth and<br />

you two are among <strong>the</strong> very first to be warned (about Allaa's punishment)."<br />

<strong>The</strong>reafter, Rasulullaah @%% recited <strong>the</strong> following verses <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Qur'aan:<br />

(I) Is'haaq bin Raahway as well as Bayhaqi.<br />

(2) AIBidaaya wan Nihaaya Wol. 3 Pg. 60). Ibn Ka<strong>the</strong>er in his Tafseer (Vol. 4 Pg. 443) also narrates <strong>the</strong><br />

report from Hadhrat Ikrama %WW.
