-2 was an avid hunter and was out hunting that day. His wife had seen what<br />

Abu Jahal did and when Hadhrat Hamza returned, she said to him, "0 Abu<br />

Umaarah! If only you had seen what that man (Abu Jahal) had done to your<br />

nephew!" Hadhrat Hamza was furious and without even entering his<br />

home, he proceeded as he was. With his bow still hanging from his shoulders, he<br />

entered <strong>the</strong> Masjidul Haraam where he found Abu Jahal sitting in a ga<strong>the</strong>ring <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Quraysh. Without saying a word, he lifted his bow above ALju Jahal's head and<br />

wounded him. When some o<strong>the</strong>rs members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Quraysh stood up to restrain<br />

Hadhrat Hamza ?&WMk, he said, '"MY religion is <strong>the</strong> same as that <strong>of</strong> Muhammad<br />

m. I testify that he is <strong>the</strong> Rasul <strong>of</strong> Allaah. I swear by Allaah that I shall never<br />

budge from this. You may try to stop me if you are true in your religion!"<br />

When Hadhrat Hamza %3!2@% accepted Islaam, Rasulullaah @!@ and <strong>the</strong><br />

Muslims were streng<strong>the</strong>ned and <strong>the</strong>y became more steadfast in <strong>the</strong>ir affairs. <strong>The</strong><br />

Quraysh became frightened because <strong>the</strong>y knew that Hadhrat Hamza ~~ would<br />

be <strong>the</strong>re to protect Rasulullaah @&.(I)<br />

Hadhrat Muhammad bin Ka'b Qurazi narrates that once when Hadhrat Hamza<br />

?ZG&% was returning from doing some archery, a woman met him and told him<br />

that his nephew (Rasulullaah m) had suffered terribly at <strong>the</strong> hands <strong>of</strong> Abu Jahal<br />

who had sworn at him, hurt him and done many terrible things to him. Hadhrat<br />

Hamza S$!G@!&j asked, "Did anyone see him doing this?" When she informed him<br />

that many people had witnessed <strong>the</strong> incident, he proceeded to a ga<strong>the</strong>ring near<br />

Safa and Marwa. <strong>The</strong>re he found <strong>the</strong> ga<strong>the</strong>ring still present with Abu Jahal sitting<br />

amongst <strong>the</strong>m. Leaning on his bow, Hadhrat Hamza ?iWM told <strong>the</strong> people what<br />

he had shot with his bow and o<strong>the</strong>r things he had done. He <strong>the</strong>n took hold <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

bow with both hands and struck Abu Jahal so hard on <strong>the</strong> middle <strong>of</strong> his head that<br />

<strong>the</strong> bow broke. He <strong>the</strong>n said, "Take that with a bow. Next time it will be a sword. I<br />

testlfy that he (Muhammad @%) is <strong>the</strong> R ~su~ <strong>of</strong> Allaah who had brought <strong>the</strong><br />

truth from Allaah." <strong>The</strong> people said, "0 Abu Urnaarah! He insults our gods and<br />

although you are better than him, we would never tolerate that even from you.<br />

However, 0 Abu Umaarah, you have never been an unpleasant person." (2)<br />

Abu Jahal Resolves to Cause Harm to Rasulullaah<br />

and Allaah Humiliates him<br />

Hadhrat Abbaas ?BW% narrates that he was once in <strong>the</strong> Masjidul Haraam when<br />

Abu Jahal arrived and said, "I have vowed for Allaah that if I see Muhammad in<br />

Sajdah, I will tramp on his neck." Hadhrat Abbaas @- says, "When I informed<br />

Rasulullaah @@ about this, Rasulullaah @?# left angrily for <strong>the</strong> Masjidul<br />

Haraam and was in such a hurry to get <strong>the</strong>re that instead <strong>of</strong> using <strong>the</strong> door, he<br />

scaled <strong>the</strong> wall. I said, 'This is bound to be a horrible day.' I tied my lower<br />

garment tightly and followed Rasulullaah @%."<br />
