As <strong>the</strong> Muslims were leaving Uhud, Rasulullaah @?@ told (<strong>the</strong> famous poet)<br />

Hadhrat Hassaan BGWj to says something in praise <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Talha B-.<br />

He obliged by saying <strong>the</strong> following couplets (which meant):<br />

"On <strong>the</strong> day <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> valley (<strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Uhud), Talha assisted Muhammad @%$<br />

During a time <strong>of</strong>extreme hardships and diflculties<br />

With his bare hands he shielded (Rasulullaah@@)<br />

from <strong>the</strong> arrows<br />

And placed his hand beneath <strong>the</strong> swords (to shield Rasulullaah @&) because <strong>of</strong><br />

which it was para&sed<br />

After Muhammad m, he led all <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>rs<br />

He erected <strong>the</strong> mil/ <strong>of</strong> Islaam until it could function by itsely<br />

~adhrat ~bu Bakr4WZWj <strong>the</strong>n recited <strong>the</strong> following (which meant):<br />

"Talha defended <strong>the</strong> Nabi <strong>of</strong>guidance as <strong>the</strong> cavalry chased him<br />

When <strong>the</strong>y eventual& caught up, he defended all <strong>of</strong> Deen<br />

He patient& bore <strong>the</strong> injuries when his comrades had left<br />

At that time, people were ei<strong>the</strong>r rightlyguided or misguided<br />

0 Talha bin Ubaydillaah! Incumbent foryou<br />

is <strong>the</strong> gardens <strong>of</strong>jannah and marriage to its beautiful wide-eyed damsels"<br />

Hadhrat Umar B,Lw <strong>the</strong>n said <strong>the</strong> following couplet (in praise <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Talha<br />

S,g@&>) :<br />

"He defended <strong>the</strong> Nabi <strong>of</strong>guidance with his dram sword<br />

at a time when everyone had fled and dispersed"<br />

Rasulullaah @&% <strong>the</strong>n commented, "what you have said is true, 0 Umar." <strong>The</strong><br />

manner in which Hadhrat Talha 3,- fought during <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Uhud has<br />

already been nairated (in <strong>the</strong> chapter "Rasulullaah i%@ Endures Hardship and<br />

Difficulty when Giving Da'wah towards Allaah" under <strong>the</strong> subheading "<strong>The</strong><br />

Hardship Rasulullaah k%@ Bore During <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Uhud").<br />

<strong>The</strong> Bravery <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Zubayr bin Awwaam<br />

Hadhrat Zubayr , Emerges with a Drawn Sword in<br />

Makkah before <strong>the</strong> Hijrah<br />

Hadhrat Sa'eed bin Musayyib B,!%% says that <strong>the</strong> first person to draw a sword<br />

for <strong>the</strong> pleasure <strong>of</strong> Allaah was Hadhrat Zubayr bin Awwaam ~,GM. He was iw<br />

Makkah one day when he heard that Rasulullaah @@ was assassinated. He<br />

immediately left home with a drawn sword when he came face-to-face with<br />

Rasulullaah @%%. Rasulullaah k%!& enquired, "What is <strong>the</strong> matter, Zubayr?" "I<br />

heard that you had been assassinated," he replied. "What were intending to do in<br />

that case?" Rasulullaah @&% asked. "By Allaah!" replied Hadhrat Zubayr 3,W, "I<br />

had intended to tackle all <strong>the</strong> people <strong>of</strong> Makkah." Rasulullaah <strong>the</strong>n prayed<br />

for him. It is with reference to this that Asadi said <strong>the</strong> following poem (which<br />

meant):<br />
