Hadhrat Khaalid $iEU5 kills Hurmuz<br />

Hadhrat Aws bin Haaritha bin Laam %E=j narrates, "<strong>The</strong>re was none who hated<br />

<strong>the</strong> (Muslim) Arabs more than Hurmuz. After we had finished fighting Musaylama<br />

and his people, we marched towards Basrah. We clashed with Hurmuz with an<br />

extremely large army at a place called Kaadhima. Khaalid %GW stepped<br />

forward and challenged Hurmuz to a duel. Hurmuz accepted <strong>the</strong> challenge and<br />

Khaalid %Uh32 killed him. When Hadhrat Khaalid %X5Wj wrote to Hadhrat Abu<br />

Bakr S,Gw about this, Hadhrat Abu Bakr %GW awarded Hurmuz's<br />

belongings to Hadhrat Khaalid bin Waleed ~,GW. Hurmuz's crown was<br />

valued at a hundred thousand Dirhams because <strong>the</strong> Persians always gave <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

leaders crowns valued at a hundred thousand Dirhams."<br />

Hadhrat Khaalid bin Waleed 3,Gwj Weeps as He<br />

Passes Away on his Bed<br />

Hadhrat Abu Zinaad narrates that when Hadhrat Khaalid bin Waleed %EW was<br />

about to pass away, he started weeping. He named <strong>the</strong> various battles he had<br />

participated in and said, "<strong>The</strong>re is not an area on my body equal to a hand's<br />

span that does not have wound inflicted on it ei<strong>the</strong>r by a sword, a spear or an<br />

arrow. However, here I am dying a natural death on my bed like a camel dies.<br />

May <strong>the</strong> eyes <strong>of</strong> cowards never have any sleep." (2)<br />

<strong>The</strong> Bravery <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Baraa bin Maalik %,G&<br />

Hadhrat Anas %,Gw reports that during <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Yamaamah, Hadhrat<br />

Khaalid bin Waleed %,Gw said to Hadhrat Baraa bin Maalik 3GW, "Stand up,<br />

0 Baraa!" When Hadhrat Baraa bin Maalik 3Gw mounted his horse, he praised<br />

Allaah and said, "0 people <strong>of</strong> Madinah! <strong>The</strong>re should be no Madinah for you<br />

today (you should prepare yourselves to die in Jihaad and not return to<br />

Madinah). All that should remain for you should be <strong>the</strong> One Allaah and Jannah."<br />

He <strong>the</strong>n led <strong>the</strong> attack with <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>rs and <strong>the</strong> people <strong>of</strong> Yamaamah were<br />

defeated. Hadhrat Baraa bin Maalik 3GW; encountered (<strong>the</strong> enemy leader)<br />

Mukakkam Yamaamah and floored him with a blow from his sword. He <strong>the</strong>n<br />

took Muhakkam's sword and struck him so forcefully that <strong>the</strong> sword broke. (3)<br />

Ano<strong>the</strong>r narration quotes that Hadhrat Baraa bin Maalik 3E=j said, "On <strong>the</strong> day<br />

that we fought Musaylama, I encountered a man who was called <strong>the</strong> donkey <strong>of</strong><br />

Yamaamah. He was a large and powerfully built man who carried a white sword.<br />

When I struck his legs, <strong>the</strong>y came <strong>of</strong>f as if by mistake and he fell on his back. I<br />

<strong>the</strong>n shea<strong>the</strong>d my sword, took his and attacked him with it until it broke." (4)<br />

Hadhrat Baraa bin Maalik %GW Scales a Wall<br />

and Fights <strong>the</strong> Enemy all by Himself<br />

Ibn Is'haaq narrates that <strong>the</strong> Muslims drove back <strong>the</strong> Mushrikeen during <strong>the</strong><br />
