Hadhrat Muhammad bin Haatib S,E.Wj narrates that Rasulullaah once said,<br />

"I have seen (in a dream) a land <strong>of</strong> dates. You people should go <strong>the</strong>re."<br />

Consequently, (my fa<strong>the</strong>r) Hadhrat Haatib %,EM and Hadhrat Ja'far %.@$&6 left<br />

for <strong>the</strong> sea and I was born on <strong>the</strong> very ship (<strong>the</strong>y took)." (')<br />

Hadhrat Ja'far %Gw.once asked, "0 Rasulullaah w! Permit me to go to a land<br />

where I will be able to worship Allaah without having to fear anyone." When<br />

Rasulullaah &%?% permitted him, he went to Najaashi (<strong>the</strong> king <strong>of</strong> Abyssinia). <strong>The</strong><br />

detailed Hadith will follow soon, Insha Allaah. (2)<br />

<strong>The</strong> Quraysh send Hadhrat Amr bin A1 Aas %gw<br />

to Najaashi to Bring <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> @GGW back to<br />

<strong>the</strong>m<br />

Hadhrat Ummu Salama SBWj narrates that a time came when it became too<br />

difficult for <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> @G@i$ to live in Makkah. <strong>The</strong>y were being tortured and<br />

put through many difficulties. <strong>The</strong>y realised that <strong>the</strong>se great difficulties and tests<br />

were directed at <strong>the</strong>m because <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir Deen and that Rasulullaah k%& was<br />

unable to protect <strong>the</strong>m. Under <strong>the</strong> protection <strong>of</strong> his tribe and his uncle,<br />

Rasulullaah @?@ was not suffering as <strong>the</strong>y were. Rasulullaah @$% <strong>the</strong>refore said<br />

to <strong>the</strong>m, "<strong>The</strong> land <strong>of</strong> Abyssinia has a king who does not oppress anyone in his<br />

kingdom. Go to his country and stay <strong>the</strong>re until Allaah creates an escape for you<br />

from your suffering."<br />

Hadhrat Ummu Salama IS%$& says fur<strong>the</strong>r, "We <strong>the</strong>refore left in several groups<br />

until a number <strong>of</strong> us had ga<strong>the</strong>red <strong>the</strong>re. We had settled in a nice place with good<br />

neighbours where we could peacefully practise our Deen without fearing any<br />

oppression. However, when he Quraysh saw that we had found a safe haven, <strong>the</strong>y<br />

disliked it very much. <strong>The</strong>y <strong>the</strong>refore decided to send a delegation to Najaashi to<br />

have us removed from his country and returned to <strong>the</strong>m. <strong>The</strong> persons <strong>the</strong>y sent<br />

were Arnr bin Al Aas and Abdullaah bin Abi Rabee'ah. <strong>The</strong>y also collected many<br />

gifts for Najaashi and for his generals. <strong>The</strong>re was not a person for whom <strong>the</strong>y did<br />

not have a gift that was exclusively for him."<br />

Hadhrat Ummu Salama @lG&4 narrates fur<strong>the</strong>r that <strong>the</strong> Quraysh briefed <strong>the</strong> two<br />

delegates saying, "Give every general his gift before you speak about <strong>the</strong><br />

Muslims. <strong>The</strong>reafter, give Najaashi his gifts. If possible, try to have <strong>the</strong> Muslims<br />

(1) Ahmad and Tabraani as quoted in Majma'uzZawaa'id (Vo1.6 Pg.27).<br />
