Rasulullaah w, <strong>the</strong>ir kinship with Rasulullaah @%$ moved <strong>the</strong>m and <strong>the</strong>y said<br />

to <strong>the</strong>ir Christian slave Addaas, "Take a stalk <strong>of</strong> this grape vine, put it.in a plate<br />

and take it to that man. Tell him that he should eat it." Addaas did as he was told.<br />

He took <strong>the</strong> grapes, placed it in front <strong>of</strong> Rasulullaah @@ and told him to eat.<br />

When Rasulullaah @@ put hisf hand in <strong>the</strong> plate, he recited - "In <strong>the</strong> name <strong>of</strong><br />

Allaah". Addaas looked into Rasulullaah W's face and said, "By Allaah! <strong>The</strong><br />

people <strong>of</strong> this area do not say such words." Rasulullaah asked, "From <strong>the</strong><br />

people <strong>of</strong> which area do you belong 0 Addaas? What is your religion?" Addaas<br />

replied, "I am a Christian from <strong>the</strong> people <strong>of</strong> Nineveh." Rasulullaah @%% commented,<br />

"You are from <strong>the</strong> town <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> pious man Yunus bin Matta @#&." "HOW do you<br />

know about Yunus bin Matta @%?" asked Addaas. "He is my bro<strong>the</strong>r. He was a<br />

Nabi and I am a Nabi." Addaas <strong>the</strong>n bowed in front <strong>of</strong> Rasulullaah @& and<br />

kissed his head, hands and feet. One <strong>of</strong> Rabee'ah's sons said to <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r, "He has<br />

caused problems for you with your slave."<br />

When ~ddaas returned to <strong>the</strong>m, <strong>the</strong>y said to him, "Shame on you, 0 Addaas!<br />

What overcame you that you kissed <strong>the</strong> head, hands and feet <strong>of</strong> that man?"<br />

Addaas replied, "0 my master! <strong>The</strong>re is no person on this earth better than that<br />

man. He told me things that only a Nabi could know." <strong>The</strong>y said to him, "Shame<br />

on you, 0 Addaas! Let him never shift you from your religion because your<br />

religion is better than his." ('1<br />

Ano<strong>the</strong>r narration states that Addaas said to Rasulullaah w, "I testify that you<br />

are <strong>the</strong> servant and messenger <strong>of</strong> Allaah." (2)<br />

Hadhrat Aa'isha f&WWS narrates that (her fa<strong>the</strong>r) Hadhrat Abu Bakr ?B!3M once<br />

said, "If only you had seen Rasulullaah and myself as we climbed up to <strong>the</strong><br />

cave (<strong>of</strong> Thowr en-route to Madinah)! <strong>The</strong> feet <strong>of</strong> Rasulullaah @$%% were dripping<br />

with blood while mine had become (numb) like a stone." Hadhrat Aa'isha<br />

said, "Rasulullaah @%$ was never used to walking barefoot." (3)<br />

<strong>The</strong> Hardship Rasulullaah Bore During <strong>the</strong><br />

Battle <strong>of</strong> Uhud<br />

Hadhrat Anas ?iW%Ei narrates that <strong>the</strong> canine teeth <strong>of</strong> Rasulullaah @% were<br />

broken during <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Uhud and he was severely injured on <strong>the</strong> head.<br />

Wiping <strong>the</strong> blood from his face, he said, "How can a nation be successful when<br />

<strong>the</strong>y have injured his head and broken his teeth when he calls <strong>the</strong>m to Allaah?!" It<br />

was on this occasion that Allaah revealed <strong>the</strong> verse:<br />

You have no choice in <strong>the</strong> matter (<strong>of</strong>punishing <strong>the</strong> Mushrikeen. On&<br />

AJJaah decides if and when people ought to be punished). (If AJJaah<br />
