Hadhrat Abu Dharr ~ ,Gw took his waterbag and provisions along with him to<br />

<strong>the</strong> Masjidul Haraam and spent <strong>the</strong> day <strong>the</strong>re. However, when evening arrived, he<br />

had not yet seen Rasulullaah @&@. He had returned to <strong>the</strong> place where he<br />

intended tc~ lie down when Hadhra Ali B,GW passed by and said, "Has <strong>the</strong> man<br />

not yet found his destination?" Hadhrat Ali B,Gw <strong>the</strong>n helped him up and took<br />

him home without any <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m exchanging questions. When things turned out<br />

<strong>the</strong> same on <strong>the</strong> third day and Hadhrat Abu Dharr BGw again stayed with<br />

Hadhrat Ali !ZUm, Hadhrat Ali B!3W asked, "Will you not tell me what brings<br />

you here?" Hadhrat.Abu Dharr BGW replied, "I shall inform you if you give me<br />

your word that you would give me proper direction." When Hadhrat Ali SGw<br />

agreed, Hadhrat Abu Dharr B,Gw informed him. Hadhrat Ali B,@W said, "It is<br />

true that he is <strong>the</strong> Rasul <strong>of</strong> Allaah. Follow me closely tomorrow morning. If I see<br />

anything that may jeopardise your safety, I shall stop with <strong>the</strong> pretence <strong>of</strong><br />

needing to relieve myself (but you should proceed). When I continue walking,<br />

you should follow me once more and enter <strong>the</strong> place I enter. Hadhrat Abu Dharr<br />

W3W$ did this and followed in <strong>the</strong> footsteps <strong>of</strong> ~adhrat Mi 3,Wj until Hadhrat<br />

Ali wW came to Rasulullaah and Hadhrat Abu Dharr $U3?W entered with<br />

him.<br />

Hadhrat Abu Dharr BGWj listened to Rasulullaah @% and accepted Islaam<br />

on <strong>the</strong> spot. Rasulullaah said to him, "Return to your people and convey<br />

<strong>the</strong> message to <strong>the</strong>m until I send fur<strong>the</strong>r instructions." Hadhrat.Abu Dharr<br />

B,GW said, "I swear by <strong>the</strong> Being Who controls my life that I shall shout it aloud<br />

amongst <strong>the</strong>m all!" He <strong>the</strong>n proceeded to <strong>the</strong> Masjidul Haraam where he called<br />

out at <strong>the</strong> top <strong>of</strong> his voice:<br />

"I testify that <strong>the</strong>re is none worthy <strong>of</strong> worship but Allaah and that<br />

Muhammad is Allaah's Rasul."<br />

<strong>The</strong> Mushrikeen <strong>the</strong>n beat him to <strong>the</strong> ground. Hadhrat Abbaas %E&+j arrived<br />

and threw himself over Hadhrat Abu Dharr B,Wj (to shield him) saying 'Fools!<br />

Don't you realise that he belongs lo <strong>the</strong> Ghifaar tribe and that your traders have<br />

to pass <strong>the</strong>m on <strong>the</strong> route <strong>the</strong>y use to Shaam?!" In this manner, Hadhrat Abbaas<br />

4W3&+ saved him. <strong>The</strong> follo wing day, Hadhrat Abu Dharr BG55 repeated<br />

himself <strong>The</strong> Mushrikeen again assaulted him and Hadhrat Abbaas BGW+ had to<br />

throw himself over him (to save him). (' )<br />

Ano<strong>the</strong>r narration <strong>of</strong> Bukhari states that Hadhrat Abu Dharr B,W+ announced,<br />

''0 assembly <strong>of</strong> Quraysh! / testify that <strong>the</strong>re is none worthy <strong>of</strong> worship but Nlaah<br />

and that Muhammad is Allaah's servant and Ras~l." <strong>The</strong> Mushrikeen<br />

shouted, 'Get that heretic!" <strong>The</strong>y <strong>the</strong>n beat him up with <strong>the</strong> intention <strong>of</strong> killing<br />

him when Hadhrat Abbaas %&7&5 arrived and threw himself over him. Turning to<br />

<strong>the</strong> people, Hadhrat Abbaas said, 'Fools! You wish to kill a man from <strong>the</strong><br />

Ghifaar when your trade route goes by <strong>the</strong>m andyou have to pass by <strong>the</strong>m?!" <strong>The</strong><br />
