Islaam and started inviting people to Islaam. When this news reached Safwaan,<br />

he said, 'When he went to his family before coming to me, I knew that Umayr<br />

had become involved in <strong>the</strong> very thing he feared and had forsaken his religion. I<br />

shall never speak to him again and never do a good turn to him or his family."<br />

As Safwaan stood in <strong>the</strong> Hateem one day, Hadhrat Gmayr WWj called for him.<br />

When Safwaan ignored him, Hadhrat Umayr ?B- said to him, 'You are one <strong>of</strong><br />

our leaders. Tell me. When we worshipped stones and sacrificed animals for<br />

<strong>the</strong>m, was this any religion? I testify that <strong>the</strong>re is none worthy <strong>of</strong> worship but<br />

Allaah and that Muhammad @@ is Allaah's servant and Rasul." Safwaan did not<br />

utter a word in response. ('1 <strong>The</strong> effort Hadhrat Umayr Sw made to get<br />

Safwaan to accep't lslaam has already been mentioned. (2)<br />

Hadhrat Abu Hurayra !i3w Gives Da'wah to his<br />

Mo<strong>the</strong>r and She Accepts Islaam<br />

Hadhrat Abu Hurayra 5$@&% says that he used to invite his mo<strong>the</strong>r to Islaam<br />

when she was still a Mushrik. One day as he was giving her <strong>the</strong> Da'wah, she told<br />

him things about Rasulullaah @i%# that he did not like. He went crying to<br />

Rasulullaah @% and said, "0 Rasulullaah w! When I invite my mo<strong>the</strong>r to<br />

Islaam, she refuses to accept. When I did so today, she told me things about you<br />

that I did not like. Pray to Allaah to guide <strong>the</strong> mo<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> Abu Hurayra."<br />

Rasulullaah made du'aa saying, "0 Allaah! Guide <strong>the</strong> mo<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> Abu<br />

Hurayra."<br />

Hadhrat Abu Hurayra 3i@@!3 narrates fur<strong>the</strong>r, "Happy with <strong>the</strong> du'aa <strong>of</strong><br />

Rasulullaah @@, I left'but when 1 tried to open <strong>the</strong> door <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> house, I found it<br />

locked. Hearing my footsteps, my mo<strong>the</strong>r shouted, 'Stay where you are, 0 Abu<br />

Hurayra.' I <strong>the</strong>n heard <strong>the</strong> pattering <strong>of</strong> water (as my mo<strong>the</strong>r took a bath to accept<br />

Islaam). She <strong>the</strong>n wore her clo<strong>the</strong>s and hastily donned a scarf. She opened <strong>the</strong><br />

door and said, '0 Abu Hurayra!<br />

'I testify that <strong>the</strong>re is none worthy <strong>of</strong> worship but<br />

Allaah and that<br />

Muhammad @% is Allaah's Rasul."'<br />

Hadhrat Abu Hurayra $&GWj says that he <strong>the</strong>n returned to Rasulullaah @@ and<br />

informed him about what had happened. Wulullaah praised Allaah and<br />

made du'aa in <strong>the</strong>ir favour. (3)<br />

According to ano<strong>the</strong>r narration, Hadhrat Abu Hurayra used to say, "By<br />

Allaah! Whenever any male or female Muslim hears my name, <strong>the</strong>y take a<br />

liking to me." "How do you know this?" <strong>the</strong> narrator asked. He <strong>the</strong>n mentioned<br />

that he used to invite his mo<strong>the</strong>r to Islaam and <strong>the</strong> narration continues like <strong>the</strong><br />

one mentioned above. However, this narration states at <strong>the</strong> end, "I <strong>the</strong>n hurried<br />
