that Kisra had torn up <strong>the</strong> letter, Rasulullaah commented, "Kisra has torn<br />

up his kingdom." ("I<br />

Abu Salam bin Abdir Rahmaan 3,W!G narrates that after <strong>the</strong> letter <strong>of</strong> Rasulullaah<br />

@%& had reached Kisra and he read it and tore it up, he wrote to Baadhaan <strong>the</strong><br />

governor <strong>of</strong> Yemen instructing,("Sent two burly men to this man in Hijaaz with<br />

instructions to bring him to me." In compliarlce with <strong>the</strong> letter, Baadhaan sent<br />

his chief minister Abaanuh in <strong>the</strong> company <strong>of</strong> a Persian man called Jadd<br />

~ameerah. Abaanuh was a man pr<strong>of</strong>icient in Persian letters and numbers.<br />

Baadhaan sent a letter with <strong>the</strong>m to Rasulullaah w@, instructing Rasulullaah<br />

@@ to leave for <strong>the</strong> court <strong>of</strong> Kisra with <strong>the</strong> two <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m. Baadhaan also<br />

instructed his chief minister to scrutinise Rasulullaah @@, to engage him in<br />

discussion and to repor; <strong>the</strong> details back to him.<br />

<strong>The</strong> two left and finally reached Taa'if where <strong>the</strong>y made enquiries about<br />

Rasulullaah w from some businessmen <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Quraysh. <strong>The</strong>y were informed<br />

that Rasulullaah 6%% was in Madinah. (Realising that <strong>the</strong> two men were out to<br />

take Rasulullaah @@ to Kisra,) <strong>The</strong> businessmen became overjoyed and<br />

exclaimed, "Now that Kisra has stood up against him (Rasulullaah w), we have<br />

nothing more to do."<br />

When <strong>the</strong> two reached Madinah, Abaanuh spoke to Rasulullaah and said to<br />

him, "Kisra has written to Baadhaan with instructions to send someone to take<br />

you before him. He has sent me so that you come with me." Rasulullaah @@<br />

said to him, "You may leave n0.w and return to see me tomorrow." When <strong>the</strong> two<br />

arrived <strong>the</strong> next day, Rasulullaah @@ informed <strong>the</strong>m <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> precise night <strong>of</strong> a<br />

particular month in which Allaah has killed Kisra and handed <strong>the</strong> kingdom<br />

over to his son Sherway. <strong>The</strong> two men said, "Do you know what yo;are saying?<br />

May we write back to Baadhaan with this news?" "Certainly," replied Rasulullaah<br />

m, "and tell him that if he accepts Islaam, I shall hand back to him control <strong>of</strong><br />

all <strong>the</strong> lands he presently rules." Rasulullaah @$% <strong>the</strong>n gave Jadd Jameerah a belt<br />

decorated with gold and silver that had been given to him as a gift.<br />

When <strong>the</strong> two returned to Yemen and informed Baadhaan about <strong>the</strong> events, he.<br />

said, "This is not <strong>the</strong> speech <strong>of</strong> some king. We should definitely investigate <strong>the</strong><br />

truth <strong>of</strong> what he said." <strong>The</strong>y did not have to wait long before <strong>the</strong>y received a letter<br />

from Shenvay which after <strong>the</strong> formalities stated, "With <strong>the</strong> support <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Persian<br />

people, I have killed Kisra in a fit <strong>of</strong> fury because he saw nothing wrong in killing<br />

Persian nobles for no reason. Secure allegiance to me from all <strong>the</strong> people in<br />

Yemen and ensure that you cause no harm to <strong>the</strong> person (Rasulullaah m)<br />

whom Kisra ordered you to capture."<br />

After reading <strong>the</strong> letter <strong>of</strong> Sherway, Baadhaan said, "This man (Rasulullaa~<br />

w) must.certainly be a Rasul." He <strong>the</strong>n accepted 1slaam and so did all <strong>the</strong><br />

Persians living in Yemen. (2)<br />

narrates form Zuhri. Abu Nu'aym has also narrated it in DalaaYl where <strong>the</strong> name Kharkhusra is<br />

mentioned in place <strong>of</strong> "Jadd Jameerah" while his companion is also named as Abaanuh - lsaaba<br />

(Vol.1 Pg.259).
