he would wish well. for every Mu'min and separate himself from <strong>the</strong><br />

I<br />

<strong>Sahabah</strong> 'WWj Pledge <strong>the</strong>ir Allegiance to <strong>the</strong><br />

Hijrah during <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Khandaq<br />

Hadhrat Haarith bin Ziyaad Saa'idi !B,l%G narrates that he approached<br />

Rasulullaah k%% during <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Khandaq while people were busy pledging<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir allegiance to Hijrah at his hands. Thinking that everyone (residents and<br />

non-residents <strong>of</strong> Madinah) was being called to take this pledge Hadhrat Haarith<br />

?BlZ&& asked, "Will you accept this man's pledge to undertake <strong>the</strong> Hijrah?" 'Who<br />

is he?" asked Rasulullaah @$@. Hadhrat Haarith ?&MA& replied, "He is my cousin<br />

~owt bin Yazeed (or Yazeed bin Howt according to anothkr narration)."<br />

Rasulullaah said, '<strong>The</strong> pledge to undertake Hijrah cannot be taken from you<br />

(Ansaar). People make Hijrah to you while you need not make Hijrah towards<br />

<strong>the</strong>m. I swear by <strong>the</strong> Being in Whose control is my life! <strong>The</strong> person who loves<br />

<strong>the</strong> Ansaar until he meets Allaah, Allaah shall love him when He meets him.<br />

<strong>The</strong> person who hates <strong>the</strong> Ansaar until he meets Allaah, Allaah shall hate him<br />

when He meets him." (2)<br />

Abu Usayd Saa'idi !&iWj narrates that when <strong>the</strong> trench was being dug (for <strong>the</strong><br />

Battle <strong>of</strong> Khandaq), people came to Rasulullaah @% to pledge that <strong>the</strong>y would<br />

undertake <strong>the</strong> Hijrah. When Rasulullaah @@ completed, he said, "0 assembly <strong>of</strong><br />

Ansaar! <strong>The</strong> pledge to undertake Hijrah cannot be taken from you, for people<br />

make Hijrah towards you. <strong>The</strong> person who loves <strong>the</strong> Ansaar until he meets<br />

Allaah, Allaah shall love him when He meets him. <strong>The</strong> person who hates <strong>the</strong><br />

Ansaar until he meets Allaah, Allaah shall hate him when He meets him." (3)<br />

Pledging Allegiance to Assist O<strong>the</strong>rs<br />

Seventy <strong>Sahabah</strong> l3243Wj from <strong>the</strong> Ansaar Pledge<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir Assistance in <strong>the</strong> Valley <strong>of</strong> Aqaba<br />

Hadhrat Jaabir narrates that during <strong>the</strong> ten years that Rasulullaah @@<br />

lived in Makkah (after announcing his Nabuwaat), he would visit people at <strong>the</strong><br />

places where <strong>the</strong>y stayed during <strong>the</strong> seasons <strong>of</strong> Hajj. This was at <strong>the</strong> market<br />

places <strong>of</strong> Ukaaz and Majinna. He would ask <strong>the</strong> people, "Who will give me<br />

asylum? Who will assist me so that I could propagate <strong>the</strong> message <strong>of</strong> my Rabb?<br />

Whoever does this shall receive Jannah." However, he found none to grant him<br />

asylum and assistance. However, (instead <strong>of</strong> assisting him) matters reached such<br />

a low ebb that when a person from Yemen or from <strong>the</strong> Mudhar tribe left (for<br />
