<strong>The</strong> Eye <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Abu Sufyaan %#3W$j is Injured<br />

During <strong>the</strong> Battle at Taa'if<br />

Hadhrat Sa'eed bin Ubayd Thaqafi 9,Gb>> reports, "During <strong>the</strong> battle at Taa'if, 1<br />

spotted Abu Sufyaan bin Harb 3GiW sitting and eating on <strong>the</strong> wall <strong>of</strong> Abu Ya'la. I<br />

shot an arrow at him, which struck his eye. He <strong>the</strong>n went to Rasulullaah @%$<br />

and said, 'This eye <strong>of</strong> mine has been injured in <strong>the</strong> path <strong>of</strong> Allaah." Rasulullaah<br />

@@ said to him, 'If you wish, I could pray to Allaah to return <strong>the</strong> eye to you. If<br />

you wish o<strong>the</strong>rwise, you could have Jannah (in return for your injury).' Abu<br />

Sufyaan 9,GWj replied, 'Let it be Jannah instead."'<br />

<strong>The</strong> Wounds Sustained to <strong>the</strong> Eyes <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat<br />

Qataadah bin Nu'maan %,E@% and Hadhrat<br />

Rifaa'ah bin Raafi %,ECtuQ2 During <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Badr<br />

Hadhrat Qataadah bin Nu'maan B GW narrates that when his eye was injured<br />

during <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Badr, his eyeball hung on his cheek and <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> M,Wj<br />

wanted to cut it <strong>of</strong>f. <strong>The</strong> rest <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Hadith will be quoted in <strong>the</strong> chapter<br />

concerning <strong>the</strong> manner in which <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sahabah</strong> @Ew received assistance. (2)<br />

Hadhrat Rifaa'ah bin Raafi 3GWj says, "<strong>The</strong> Mushrikeen amassed around<br />

Umayyah bin Khalaf during <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Badr as we approached him. When I<br />

noticed that a portion <strong>of</strong> his armour was broken below his armpit, I struck <strong>the</strong><br />

area with my sword. I was also struck by an arrow during <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Badr<br />

because <strong>of</strong> which my eye was rupt~ired. Rasulullaah @@ applied some <strong>of</strong> his<br />

saliva to <strong>the</strong> eye and prayed for me. I <strong>the</strong>n experienced absolutely no pain." (3)<br />

<strong>The</strong> Incident <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Raafi bin Khadeej 9,EW<br />

and two o<strong>the</strong>r <strong>Sahabah</strong> @!Sb3 from <strong>the</strong> Banu<br />

Abdul Ash'hal Tribe<br />

<strong>The</strong> incident reported by Hadhrat Yahya bin Abdul Hameed has already passed(4)<br />

in which he narrates from his grandfa<strong>the</strong>r that an arrow struck Hadhrat Raafi bin<br />

Khadeej 3Gw in <strong>the</strong> chest during ei<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Uhud or <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong><br />

~una~n(~). He <strong>the</strong>n went to Rasulullaah @& and asked him to remove <strong>the</strong><br />

arrow. In <strong>the</strong> same chapter entitled "Enduring Injuries and Illness when Inviting<br />

People Towards Allaah", ano<strong>the</strong>r narration from Hadhrat Abu Saa'ib t(6) states<br />

that a man from <strong>the</strong> Banu Abdul Ash'hal tribe reported, "My bro<strong>the</strong>r and I<br />

participated in <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Uhud and we both returned wounded. When<br />
