Hadhrat Abbaas %Gw waited by a narrow pass just ahead <strong>of</strong> Araak and Marruz<br />

Zahraan. Abu Sufyaan kept <strong>the</strong> words <strong>of</strong> Hadhrat Abbaas !&Wi% in mind as<br />

Rasulullaah k$@ dispatched <strong>the</strong> various battalions <strong>of</strong> horsemen one after <strong>the</strong><br />

o<strong>the</strong>r. Rasulullaah k$@ divided <strong>the</strong> horsemen into'two sections, <strong>the</strong> first with<br />

~adh;at Zubayr bin Awaam %3WG (and Hadhrat ~haal.id bin Waleed ?&%@&),<br />

followed by ano<strong>the</strong>r comprising <strong>of</strong> soldiers from <strong>the</strong> Aslam, Ghifaar and<br />

Qudhaa'ah tribes. Abu Sufyaan asked, "0 Abbaas! Is this Rasulullaah m?" "No,"<br />

replied Hadhrat Abbaas B,W, this is Khaalid bin Waleed."<br />

Ahead <strong>of</strong> him, Rasulullaah @@ hadsentHadhratSaldbin Ubaadah %&&!& toge<strong>the</strong>r<br />

with a -regiment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ansaar. Hadhrat Sa'd W3W6 called out, "Today is <strong>the</strong> day<br />

<strong>of</strong> bloodshed! Today, <strong>the</strong> sacredness <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Haram shall be lifted!" <strong>The</strong>reafter,<br />

Rasulullaah @@ arrived with <strong>the</strong> battalion <strong>of</strong> Imaan, namely <strong>the</strong> Muhaajireen<br />

and Ansaar. When Abu Sufyaan saw so many faces that he did not recognise, he<br />

said, "0 Rasulullaah m! You have given preference to <strong>the</strong>se people over your<br />

people?" Rasulullaah k$@ replied, 'This is <strong>the</strong> result <strong>of</strong> your people's doings.<br />

<strong>The</strong>se people believed in me when you people called me a liar and it was <strong>the</strong>m<br />

who assisted me when you people expelled me (from Makkah)."<br />

On that day, Hadhrat Aqra bin Haabis, Hadhrat Abbaas bin Mirdaas and Hadhrat<br />

Uyayna bin Hisn Fazaari were with Rasulullaah m. When he saw <strong>the</strong>m around<br />

~asulullaa'h w, Abu Sufyaan asked, "Who are <strong>the</strong>se people, 0 Abbaas?"<br />

Hadhrat Abbaas %,w replied, "<strong>The</strong>se are <strong>the</strong> battalion <strong>of</strong> ~asuiullaah m.<br />

With <strong>the</strong>m is <strong>the</strong> red death. <strong>The</strong>y are <strong>the</strong> Muhaajireen and <strong>the</strong> Ansaar. Abu<br />

Sufyaan <strong>the</strong>n said, "Come on, 0 Abbaas! I have never seen an army or group as<br />

large as I have seen today."<br />

Hadhrat Zubayr bin Awaam @3W proceeded with his battalion until <strong>the</strong>y<br />

reached Hajoon while Hadhrat Khaalid bin Waleed !&WfW penetrated fur<strong>the</strong>r<br />

and entered <strong>the</strong> lower end <strong>of</strong> Makkah. <strong>The</strong>re he encountered some ruffians from<br />

<strong>the</strong> Banu Bakr tribe and had to fight <strong>the</strong>m. Allaah granted Hadhrat Khaalid<br />

33!3&6 victory over <strong>the</strong>m and while some were killed at a place called Hazwara,<br />

o<strong>the</strong>rs fled to <strong>the</strong>ir homes. Those who were mounted on horseback climbed <strong>the</strong><br />

Handama hill as <strong>the</strong> Muslims followed in pursuit. Rasulullaah eventually<br />

entered Makkah with <strong>the</strong> last group <strong>of</strong> people.<br />

A crier announced, 'Whoever locks himself in his house without fighting shall be<br />

safe." Abu Sufyaan was also calling out in Makkah, "Accept Islaam and remain<br />

safe." It was really through Hadhrat Abbaas !BSB3 that Allaah had protected <strong>the</strong><br />

people <strong>of</strong> Makkah. Hind bint Utba (Abu Sufyaan's wife) grabbed hold <strong>of</strong> his beard<br />

and shouted, "0 family <strong>of</strong> Ghaalib! Kill this madman!" He shouted at her, "Let go<br />

<strong>of</strong> my beard! I swear by Allaah that you will definitely be executed if you do not<br />

accept Islaam. Woe to you! Rasulullaah @@ has come with <strong>the</strong> truth. Go home<br />

and hide." ('1<br />

(1) Tabraani. Haythami (Vo1.6 Pg.173) has commented on <strong>the</strong> chain <strong>of</strong> narrators. Ibn Aa'idh has also<br />

narrated <strong>the</strong> Hadith as quoted in Fatlhul 3aari (vo1.8 Pg.4). Bukhari has also narrated it in brief<br />

from Hadhrat Urwa @WM. Bayhaqi (Vo1.9 Pg.119) has also narrated <strong>the</strong> same.
